Samsung Unleashes Flash Mob on Times Square Before Tomorrow’s Galaxy S4 Announcement

Say what you want about Samsung’s marketing of the Galaxy line, it seems to be working in terms of their sales. We only have one day left before the Unpacked event in New York with the Galaxy S4 and to keep the hype going, Samsung got a flash mob together for a little street advertising.

Either way, we will be there live for the event tomorrow, so stick with us to find out what the next big thing will be.

its ironic that most of the public they showed were recording it on their precious iphones.. probably thinking to themselves subconsciously : apple never does anything this cool for their customers when a new iDevice comes out *sad face*

  • Richard Garrison

The dancers were all wearing black and white. I wonder if this actually means that the phone is going to be available in the Oreo cookie colors we saw in the previous videos and pictures.

  • Joel Gautraud

Do you know what would have been better than a “flash mob?”

    That’s right: No flash mob.

    • MOTORX

      better help with the answer:

if Apple can make their A6 processors manufactured by SAMSUNG work with all LTE globally, why tech giant SAMSUNG can’t make Exynos 5 Octa work with EvERYTHING???

I want GALAXY S4 with Exynos 5! in the US.

  • Rodeojones000

A flash mob is when a group of seemingly normal people get up and begin dancing/singing. This was a group of professional dancers performing on the street. Perhaps Samsung should have used the new S4 to Google what a flash mob is prior to this marketing campaign.

    Seemed pretty fun though.

  • Noleman

does this mean the phone won’t reboot constantly or will have native software to handle group text conversations? else i don’t care.

  • PhoenixPath

Is it Samsung calling the thing a flash mob, or the internet?

I mean, we all know the Greater Internet is mentally deficient…but Samsung?

  • a) youth.in.asia

This is Samsungs take on the Harlem Shake?

  • Jim McClain

Was great, as they say, use anything to keep your name in peoples faces

  • J. Gilbertson

    We just got Samsunged!

  • J. Gilbertson

Shouldn’t a flash mob be a bit more spontaneous? And shouldn’t a flash mob be more than a small group of hired dancers?

  • bogy25

I just hope this phone is everything they are leading it up to be. Need to ditch my Razr Maxx HD

    • J. Gilbertson

Why? The Razr is a very solid phone.

      • Tim242

        Awful display…

        • Dain Laguna

          and camera

        • Aardvark99

          On the Maxx **HD**?

          • Tim242

            Yes. It is pentile smoked.

          • Aardvark99

            What’s a “smoked” pentile?

          • Tim242

Haha auto correct fail. smoked = amoled.

    • Timothy Edwards

nobody is questioning someone replacing a flagship phone after only 6 months?

  • turb0wned

Take note HTC, this is how you market. HTC makes a better phone yet we still haven’t seen a single commercial to let people know whats coming. Also, why announce a phone and have it come out more than a month later? HTC should hire me.

    • Mike Reid

Your comment deserves better than -4.

Many of us may hate marketing, but it works, and Samsung (and Apple) prove it everyday.

  • paul_cus

    Samsung Hype City

  • Tim242

Does Samsung realize that this is just a phone?

    • TheFirstUniverseKing

Eh, some people live their lives through their phones, so you have to consider that it’s more than just a device to some people, it’s a lifestyle.

    • jnt

Great question… which could be repeated to a number of people… Didn’t you know it’s not just a phone? The mobile device you carry defines your character as a human being.

    • S2556

no one has realized this for 5 years. If we did we wouldn’t be on this site all the time lol

    • Savan Ghetiya

just a phone would be the nokia 3310 .. GS4 would be at the least a tad bit more than “just a phone”

  • That was the lamest flashmob I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait for the phone, but, bad form Samsung. Get with the times.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

That was the lamest “Flash Mob” I’ve ever seen… Is that even considered a Flash Mob? LOL. I can just imagine how insane the presser will be tomorrow…compared to the Magician last year.

  • shamu11

i find it amusing that a lot of the crowd had iphones…hopefully they get converted

    • Tirionfive

Ya know, I went back and watched it after you made this comment, and I noticed MAYBE 1 or 2 Non iPhone Phones. I noticed a hell of a lot of 4/4s iPhones, so maybe they will get the S4 since they are due for an upgrade soon here.

  • C-Law

This happened yesterday. Unless they did it again today?

  • creative

  • Ha. That homeless guy at the end is awesome.

    • They should give him a free S4

      • David Becker

        ya.. because internet…

        • cant put anything on the internet if it isnt true

          • Lactose_the_Intolerant

    • I don’t think that is a homeless guy. Looks more like a street performer all painted in gold.

    • deltsig77

      Puss in Boots is HOMELESS?!!

  • Aardvark99

    2009 called…

    • philnolan3d

And was happy to see we still do this in 2013?

  • leenephi

Pretty cool, but isn’t a flash mob when a large portion of the dancers suddenly appear from the audience?

  • philnolan3d

Is that really a flash mob or just a group of hired dancers that came out without prior notice?

    • Bingo!!!

      • Dan

        • TheFirstUniverseKing

          • EC8CH

            and bingo was his name-o

          • a) youth.in.asia

        • michael arazan

C’mon Samsung, no Harlem shuffle, I thought you were hip.

      • Beher1962

my neighbor’s sister makes $72 every hour on the laptop. She has been unemployed for six months but last month her paycheck was $20427 just working on the laptop for a few hours.         &shyAs&shyk25&shy.&shycom

    Puss in Boots?

  • Batman

I like how a lot of the people taking pictures are using iPhones.

    • I see cameras and all kinds of different phones, not just iphones.

      • There are several kinds, but I agree with Batman (actually, it’s what I came down here to post) there were several iPhones (hopefully, this means they’ll be switching soon).

      • philnolan3d

He didn’t say just iphones, he said a lot of them are iphones.

  • very cool
