Have titanium backup create a backup of all user apps (the little white rectangle with a checkmark on it next to Menu at the top of the main screen, then from the list of batch jobs "backup all user apps"). Reboot to recovery, create a backup, wipe data/cache, flash new rom/gapps/kernel as required.

Log in on startup, let Play store reload apps. Go into Titanium and check the "restore missing apps with data" batch job to see if any apps got missed and reinstall any non-Play store apps. Then go into that job again, select data only, and restore data for all apps that you want. I usually do this just for games and a few other things to make sure any potential issues with the new ROM are not due to a corrupted data restore.

NEVER ever restore system apps or data (don't even bother backing them up). Also Facebook tends to not play nice if you restore data so don't bother, just suck it up and type in your username and password again. I think that usually take me about an hour as well, but most of it sitting around waiting for apps to download and install by themselves.

If you have a paid version of titanium you could bypass logging in to the phone at the initial screen, install titanium (it can make an installer you can keep on your SD card), have it restore all apps & data and it won't ask for confirmation of each one since it's the paid version, then log in after and you're set.

I am not a n00b at flashing roms, but I would like an easier, newer step
by step instructions. When I flash a new rom, I create a Titanium
Backup of everything, create a system backup, then flash the rom (unzip
rom & gapps) then have to reload Titanium Backup save. I always get
confused trying to reload the Titanium Backup because I don't know if
the options I'm choosing are loading back in my app save data or are
replacing the rom update I just went through. Not to mention that this
process takes about an hour to complete.

Any way to make it
easier or faster? What process do you guys go through to update and
flash new roms but have all your app data save and restore? Thanks!
