Pantech Perception Headed to Verizon, Detained by FCC and Mugshotted

Pantech Perception

Verizon’s next highly anticipated super phone just stopped by the FCC for some closeups. I’m hoping you might have caught a whiff of sarcasm from me and that the Pantech Perception will be more of a mid-range device for those looking to pick up a more “budget-friendly” phone. These are the first actual photos we have seen of the device, if you don’t count the press render we saw back in early January.

The Perception will reportedly sport a 720p display, 4G LTE connectivity, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, and an 8MP back-facing shooter. These specs don’t sound too bad at all, but given Pantech’s history of less than desirable hardware, I can’t imagine seeing a line outside Verizon for this one.

It reminds me of the GNex

  • FAL_Fan

I’m sorry, I’m just a little bit confused here…who is the carrier for this phone? The lack of logos all over it clearly suggest that it is not a Verizon phone.

  • Dave

The term “mid range” is ever changing. This would walk on an out of the box Gnex…..

    • Diablo81588

      Google translate fail?

  • Dillon Brown

Even Pantech is doing on screen Nav Keys! HTC….ehm…ehm

  • James Hill

For a second there I thought that was a picture of the Samsung DROID Charge!

  • Ibrick

So I guess you guys can’t complain about the lack of VZ releases Q1 anymore with this beast on the horizon.

  • motta2003

Pantech and ‘superphone’ …damn I think I puked a little in my mouth..

  • EC8CH

    Honestly who buys these things?

  • chris125

It’s amazing these mid range phones get less logos than the high end phones. See Verizon you don’t have to plaster your logo all over the phones.

  • Looks like a Droid Charge… especially from the back.

  • asianrage

TWO Pantech logo and ZERO VZW logo? What is the world coming to?

    • snowblind64

Maybe VZW is embarrassed to have their logo on a Pantech?

All jokes aside, they probably just haven’t had a chance to slap a nice big Verizon logo on there yet.

      • michael arazan

All the execs at verizon probably have the logo tattooed on themselves somewhere

  • Steve S.

I don’t think its that bad of a phone. I have the RAZR, and this has a better screen resolution, on screen nav keys, and a better processor!

    • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Make the upgrade man! Do it! We Support you.

  • TylerChappell

Hey look! No Verizon logo on the front and only a small one on the back! It’s a miracle! But it would still probably be better to choose a RAZR M over this for most people.

    • zwade

I think I’d rather it say Verizon on the front instead of Pantech lol

      • TylerChappell

Honestly, I think I agree, lmao. Granted, they haven’t been all that bad, they at least try, unlike those terrible electronics companies that make pitiful Android tablets, like PanDigital, Coby, Digix, just about every other one you can expect to find at Sears, KMart, Radio Shack, Toys-R-Us, or Kohls.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Some leaks….. just really shouldn’t be reported lol. But I guess when Verizon has NOTHING to announce…this is what we have to put up with.

  • chris125

Doesn’t look bad at all. Should be a solid performer for pretty cheap. It is amazing how these specs are mid range now. They should easily be able to last a 2 year contract

    • Dave

It would walk in an out of the box Gnex….times are changing.

  • Jordan Epps

I read the first sentence and rushed over to the site only to find this.
Anyway, it’s crazy seeing these specs and it being considered mid ranged. A year or so ago, this is what we looked for.

    • Yeah, that’s a very interesting point. Back in my day, 1.5GHz dual-core was considered beastly. Now Pantech uses it. Meh. lol

  • Captain_Doug

So, the Verizon version of the the Pantech Discover…

  • DiegoKokomo

Guess we know why Verizon didn’t have room for the HTC One now!
