Battery life is only good on Motorola phones with bigger batteries. That is not really good battery life, as it is just higher capacity. I had the OG Droid Razr before exchanging it for the Gnex. Battery life was not good. As for the radios, the RAZR always had the same dBm as my Gnex, and performed the same. More signal bars does not equal better radios. Motorola phones always have inflated signal bars. I have generally liked their hardware better, but their new phones feel as plasticy as any other.

Apple has been getting a lot of bad press with all these analysts saying this and that about Apple peaking. They’re probably jumping on it so they can sell more magazines and get more hits.

Are you kidding me? Motorola uses better materials than most OEMs (OG Droid), has THE BEST radios (ahem Samsung has the WORST, can’t even lock GPS on the SG2). They also have the best battery life…. “Still motorola”? Motorola has a strong portfolio and a longer history of creating cell phones than Samsung. Yeah they haven’t produced a good looking phone or were they able to market like Samsung. But when it comes to the basics of a phone, they are the strongest. Strong radios, great battery life and decent materials. If they are able to incorporate great design, device support, good marketing/branding they can do well.

trust me i have the GNex, but Motorola made the best radio (which probably contributes to their good battery life). I am hopeful they will produce a great phone because when it comes down to it, they have been producing phones longer than some of the popular OEMs today.

Even so, it’s still Motorola. Hopefully Google adds better hardware to their Motorola device(s). The previous devices were horrendous. I think they should incorporate the Atrix 4G fingerprint scanner. That was the only reason I bought the Atrix. Now, I cannot put my Nexus 4 down. L O V E T H I S D E V I C E !

A very small percentage of Verizon or any carrier customers know what a bootloader is so I doubt that a locked bootloader will hurt sales.

While that may have been somewhat true initially, G+ has gone in a completely different direction, and FB and Twitter have definitely noticed. I can actually see the 3 coexisting quite harmoniously. FB is for friends/acquaintences to keep tabs, Twitter for real-time updates, and G+ for content discovery and groups. Of course there is plenty of overlap possible, but that’s what I see their niches as. There will never be “one social media to rule them all”, that would be a horrible experience imho.

anything motorola(post-google) releases should be unlocked, and verizon and the other carriers better allow it on their networks, or they will lose customers left and right. i also agree with you about the slim chance the backlog of phones(developed by pre-google moto) will ever see the light of an unlocked day. but to say that current(post google) moto is bad because of the actions of pre-google moto is kinda silly…but we’ll see

Motorola caved to Verizon the same as their competitors. DNA, RAZR M/HD, SGS3, all were released with locked bootloaders on VZW. Moto provides an unlock tool for the Photon Q, Atrix HD, and international RAZR’s. I’m pretty sure if they could allow unlock of the back catalog of devices not on Verizon they would, but knowing the security features they enabled on the OMAP SoC’s, that’s impossible, so they did what they could.

Of course a Google phone will be unlocked, but there’s a slim chance their regular phones (Razr, Milestone, etc) will have an unlocked bootloader.
