I put the QM Launcher on my Galaxy S3 after playing with the GO Launcher, Nova and some others. I'm actually in love with it -- and, after 3 weeks of use I can say it's not just the novelty of a rotating cube keeping me interested. My only gripe, like others, is the color. BUT, the developers are extremely receptive to suggestions and are easy to get in touch with. They've already announced color and theme customization is on its way by the end of the week! Last I checked there are other improvements coming down the pipe listed on their website. This might not be for the hardcore minimalist but for those with lots of apps like me it does make getting to them quicker. You can limit movement to vertical or horizontal rotation and use the sort feature to alphabetize apps on the cube. I found this definitely quickened my ability to get to apps. Zooming in and out with pinch and flick movements also helps to see as many or as few apps as I want quickly. To QML's credit, even in this early stage and after a ton of use I've had zero force closes or errors -- something I couldn't say for other launchers I tried. I just can't wait for that color update....

Having my icons upside down was one of my concerns too. But, I found that you can actually change the settings to avoid that little nuisance. There's a "snap to face" option and also options to limit the cube to vertical or horizontal rotation (as opposed to freely rotating in 3D space). They call that "carousel" or "cascade" mode. Speed is also adjustable. Anyway, I found those options were definitely helpful after exploring the launcher.
