Monday Poll: Most Looking Forward to in 2013?

2013 android

With 2012 behind us, it only makes sense that we start looking ahead in an attempt to prepare ourselves for what’s to come. CES ended with little bang, so that means we have Mobile World Congress, CTIA, Google I/O, IFA, and stand-alone press events left to bring us the real goods. Will we see Motorola’s “X” phone and be blown away? Can HTC make a comeback with the next line of One Series phones (assuming they continue that line)? Will LG really introduce new Nexus devices? Or does it all really just come down to whatever Samsung and Google tell us to buy in late Spring or early Summer?

You tell us what you are most looking forward to and why.

For me personally, it’s all about that Motorola “X” phone and then whatever it is that Google decides to surprise us with at I/O, which of course could be the “X” phone. Samsung and the Galaxy S4 will undoubtedly be all over our radar, but Motorola remains the big question mark here. This is the “new” Moto after all, so hopefully “new” means awesome.

Oh I see, toilet got his employer Verizon to contact droid life to monitor my posts defending someone on which toilet insults to no end. Hmmmm is droid life paid by Verizon as well?

    • Verizon

I insulted someone to no end Mr Pipe? One tongue in cheek comment is insulting someone to “no end”? Aren’t you over selling the drama a bit? Besides it was over and done yesterday. Are you just the internet busybody? Get over it already. He made a comment and I replied with a tongue in cheek remark based on a case of mistaken identity. He pointed it out and I apologized. Done deal and over. I’m sure nightscout is very thankful that you are here to fight his battles for him. I’m also sure he is more than a little concerned with your stalker man-crush. I know that your fixation with my @ss concerns me. You seem a little too interested in where it goes and even what hand I use to wipe. Boundaries man, boundaries. I don’t want to hurt your feelings Mr Pipe, but I don’t swing that way. I do hope you find love though. Love is important.

BTW, your post was moderated because you were incapable of articulating yourself without the use of curse words. The fact that you aren’t smart enough to figure that out just makes it even more pathetic. Coming up with Droid Life conspiracy theories makes your mental state highly questionable too. Seek help.

I’ve given up on Motorola until we see a Nexus device from them. Until that happens, I’m most excited about the next HTC One series device. I LOVE my One X.

  • Bionic_Pags

As much as i am excited about the Motorola “X” Phone, i don’t think i can give Motorola any more money after my Bionic… i know it was before Google took them over but it just leaves me bitter… i think the Galaxy S4 is in my future unless the “X” phone really blows me away.. oh and has for the next Nexus, it would definitely depend on the manufacturer… IMO LG failed on this one.

  • KOBALT

    Note III, please

  • hadi
  • derek connolly

but, but…I didn’t get to vote. I’m looking forward to a Galaxy S4.

  • Knlegend1

I’m looking forward to new stuff added to the Nexus family. If that means Motorola phone X fine by me.

  • http://twitter.com/ChrisCorp ChristopherCorpening

I am looking forward to the phone that will replace my (and everyone elses here) GNex when my two year contract is up.

  • Big_EZ

    1. Galaxy Note 3
    2. Motorola Phone X (but it must be unencrypted, 5″ screen, and micro sd card slot)
    3. Galaxy S4 (possible phone for the wife)

  • http://twitter.com/iron_wilhelm Mike Duren

Hoping the nexus 4 gets a restock. I need a new phone. My DX doesn’t even last the day anymore :-(.

  • Prole

What’s the deal with all the Moto fandom? I just want a good Nexus device

  • Austin

    Nexus nexus nexus :)

  • Tom Z

I look forward to 4.2.2 on my RAZR HD MAXX, hopefully!

  • JMonkeYJ

i cannot wait for the Nexus 7 2. i love my Nexus 7 (once i got a non-faulty one), and now that i also have the nexus 4, i’ve seen what a Nexus device that isn’t rushed out in 4 months can be like. i have a feeling the N7 2 will be amazing. at $200, i can buy a new N7 every year guilt free, too!

  • http://twitter.com/scrwdgeneration Cliff Keene

i just hope this phone will have quality with its nexus branding. also the 4G and battery are addressed !!

  • Eric

Is there any reason to believe the X Phone will actually be a real product within the next year or two? Is the X Phone a Google X project like Project Glass and the driverless cars? If so, wouldn’t it be just as likely that the X Phone will just as over-the-top advanced as these other projects, and unlikely to see wide consumer availability any time in the nearish future?

  • http://twitter.com/carterjohnny Johnny Carter

I’m mostly looking forward to Jelly Bean on my Bionic… Not holding my breath.

    • guest

      Lmao

  • Lucky Armpit

“Something else” which is Jelly Bean on my Razr Maxx. So sick of being left behind.

  • nightscout13

Motorola RAZR NEXUS X MAXX HD+

    • Verizon

I just want to congratulate you! You have received the award for the most repetitive post in the category of failing to be funny or even original. With the obvious trophy you will also receive a lifetime supply of Twinkies and a nut shot from a Vietnamese hooker.

Again, congratulations! Keep up the redundant and utterly mediocre work.

      • nightscout13

What you fail to realize, is that I did not just generate a random fake name like everyone else does. These are features I actually want on the X.
        RAZR- thin.
        Nexus- vanilla android.
        MAXX- large battery.
        HD+ 4K screen.

        Any questions?

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000372600312 Joseph Pojunis

Why did you try and redeem yourself?

          • nightscout13

I’m showing the other guy that he has failed.

          • KevinSchotts

He didn’t try to redeem himself, he just deflected the idiocy of verizon, I mean toilet. and toilet failed. The Victor is NightScout

          • Verizon

Good grief, you are such a loser Sewage Pipe. It really is sad.

        • Verizon

If that is the case, then it would be a good design.

Your history of making up exaggerated Motorola phone names would generally point to something else though.

          • nightscout13

Full disclosure, I might have pulled that pun 3 times max. But that’s over a period of 2 years. And I don’t think you’ve been around long enough to witness me write the other ones.

          • Verizon

Full disclosure, I’ve been around since this site was created. Disqus fubared my last account so I created this one. I’ve noticed someone doing this on just about every article with Motorola in the title, if I confused you with that moron then I apologize. I just find it rather tiresome.

          • nightscout13

What happened to your previous account? That would suck to start all over again :P

          • Verizon

I was locked out somehow. I went to sign in one day and neither my email or my password would work. I sent a couple of email trying to get it straightened out, but never had a reply. I ended up just creating a new account and moving on.

          • KevinSchotts

So sorry to hear that Toilet, well may 2013 be better for you

          • Verizon

2012 was a pretty good year for me Sewage Pipe. The state of my Disqus account does nothing to affect my overall life. Sorry if you base so much worth on it.

          • Kevin Schotts

then tune out for a bit moron

          • Verizon

I could same the same to you nimrod.

          • KevinSchotts

Oooh aren’t you just a pompous little @ss. We all should just bow down to you and worship in the greatness of your arrogance “Oh hail someone with the handle of verizon!” I’m going to call you toilet from now on. So toilet, what made you so bitter, having a self imposed name of verizon? Did mommy not love you enough, or daddy to much? Don’t worry toilet, we are all here for you.

          • Verizon

Ok, just so I have this straight….You decided to jump into a conversation that has absolutely nothing to do with you. You called me a moron and I replied with the same level of idiotic insult to make sure you would understand it. Not to mention that I was offering you the same “advice” you gave me. Now, because of this I am somehow “pompous” and you’ve created some delusion based on my screen name that I have issues with my parents? Talk about having issues. I think you’ve developed some form of psychosis where you actually believe anyone gives a crap what you say or think. If you insist on calling me “toilet” then I believe I will refer to you as “sewage pipe” from now on. That is where all the crap truly is after all. So in the future Sewage Pipe if I want any crap out of you, I’ll squeeze your head. Now run along, the adults are talking.

    • whoisyasin

Lol, I have always told people I wanted a Nexus Note Maxx. Best of all worlds.

  • joejoe5709

Kellen – the poll already chose an answer for me before I clicked anything. Glitch? Anyhoo – definitely looking forward to the next Nexus. Hopefully this will be conveniently timed right around August-October. :-)

  • RoadsterHD1

I’m looking forward to Moto’s “X” Phone and hope it will be my next phone.

  • kennedy myril

Whatever the next Nexus device is..

  • Glen

Let’s not forget software updates. Loving 4.2 on Nexus 7, can’t wait for update on Verizon S3 including multi windows support (hopefully both wil be available in a stable ROM long before Verizon gets around to delivering it). Also curious about next generation of Android OS, maybe 5.0?

  • droyd4life

    Something else… Android 5.0?

  • paul_cus

I’m looking forward to launch day for the new Sony phones.

  • http://www.hypable.com/ Joshua Nealey

I guess I’ll be leaving Verizon for a Nexus if it impresses me this year.

  • Chris Hollenbeck

ICS for Thunderbolt. Just because it is the most “out there” thing I can think of

    • lil johnny red

We all know that’s not going to happen

    • Richard Yarrell

That wanna be Evo device is one of the WORST HANDSETS EVER ON Verizon.

      • squiddy20

The Thunderbolt has better specs than the Evo. Hardly “wanna be”. How stupid are you?

  • http://www.kovdev.com/ kover

I’m looking forward to a newly renovated Droid Life and can’t wait to see what the redesign looks like.

  • Art Carter

I could go with the X Phone or Anything Nexus.

  • Havoc70

A Nexus device on VZ thats actually a Nexus.

    • Tyler

That’s what i was thinking! My Galaxy Nexus is nice but its going to need to be replaced eventually.

    • sdny8

That’s all I want is a no compromise phone that screams take my money. I think vzw customers are willing to shell out the $ every device so far has had some kind of compromise to it however.

      • Richard Yarrell

As long as any device exist on Verizon their will always be major compromises. That dreadful bloatware is the worst ever on any carrier. Verizon is simply pitiful.

        • Diablo81588

Tmobile sucks in general. Bloatware can be disabled.Just stick with your walmart carrier and stop bashing verizon on every comment.

          • LiterofCola

            lol @ Walmart carrier

          • memyself&i

Please explain how T-Mobile, on which I get more or less the same data plan as Verizon for $40 a month in stead of $90, “sucks in general”? The only thing about T-Mobile that sucks is the phone selection, and if it carries the very phone you want on Verizon than its a kinda pointless argument.

          • Diablo81588

Did you really just ask that question? It’s called COVERAGE. There’s a reason Verizon is the largest wireless carrier in the US.

        • squiddy20

As if Verizon is the only carrier to put any sort of bloatware on any of it’s devices… Just look at all the crap Samsung alone throws on all their phones. Stupid hypocrite.

    • ceejw

This would be great but I really don’t see it happening.

    • Kevin Schotts

      will never happen

  • nessthiss

I’m hoping for more wide adoption of Google TV

  • Terrace Manley

I would have to Motorola X, especially if it means Motorola neXus

  • ranlil

More important… Motorola X phone on Verizon

  • Thomas

    Something else : Note 3

  • Russ

    Flexible OLED displays, baby!

  • http://twitter.com/davidbavin David Bavin

Have two upgrades available in September… either waiting for a Samsung phone (Note 3) or the Nexus 5/4S!

EDIT: Or the Motorola “X” phone! Pleeasssee have stock Android.

  • Adam

As far as Google goes it has to be the Moto X. But honestly I’m excited to see what RIM brings to the table with BB10 and they do. Competition can only be good. And who doesn’t love a comeback story?

    • http://www.droid-life.com Kellex B

I think this would be our dream, well most of ours. Maybe this will finally get people to untie themselves from carriers and go unlocked?

      • Austin

I guess no one cares cares about HTC anymore huh? :/

        • Kevin Schotts

Yeah, their ship has sailed. I still think that the Nexus One was the sexiest phone though. when I pulled it out people would say “WOW, what’s that?” Even IPhone users.

  • Masterminded

I’m hoping the Motorola X phone IS the whatever that Google adds to the Nexus line

    • Butters619

      Motorola neXus

(damn it somebody below already said it so not original)

      • Richard Yarrell

No device will be better than the Galaxy S4 in the early part of the year. And NO device will be better than the Galaxy Note 3 in the later part of 2013. Definitely NO Motorola device or Next Nexus that’s for sure.

        • Diablo81588

Says someone who knows nothing about any of those devices.

          • michael arazan

Google’s Motorola X for every single carrier except Verizon as payback,jk. Seriously too bad they won’t leverage Motorola against Verizon for full control over their products.

          • LiterofCola

            I lol’d

        • squiddy20

And you know this… how? I can guarantee you don’t really know the actual specs of the S4 or Note 3, or even the specs of competitors’ phones. You can only guess and base your thoughts on rumors and other people’s speculations. What a joke.

        • Butters619

TocuhWiz blows FYI. And the Razr kills on battery. Moto just needs to put a worthwhile camera in their next phone and they would be better than Samsung.

          • mechapathy

FYI? As in “TouchWiz blows” is a fact? I might agree, but I know people who don’t.

  • deadsix

I just want unified messaging in Android 5.0 KLP, that would make my year.

  • http://twitter.com/SumanjiWorld Suman Gandham

    X-Phone X-Phone X-Phone X-Phone X-Phone X-Phone

    Did I mention X-Phone?

    • Kevin Schotts

      sorry, a what again?

  • http://twitter.com/MJZ2112 MJZ

I’m most looking forward to leaving Verizon. I’m just sick of their nonsense.

    • paul_cus

Same here, I’m gone in April.

      • Mathew Call

Me three. Gonna take my Galaxy Nexus back to Best Buy and upgrade to a Nexus 4. Come on LG! I think I’m going with Solavei, unlimited everything for $50 on T-Mobile’s network plus the money earning.

    • Richard Yarrell

      Verizon sucks rotten eggs.

  • Pedro

Google lets me buy 2 more Nexus 4 phones for wife and daughter.
Move to T-Mobile and StraightTalk (if we can figure out the ST MMS).
Save more than $1000 this year, and $2000 every year after.

    Profit. Seriously. Profit.

  • Pat Hamilton

Just want to see what’s next for nexus. I like my gnex but I wouldn’t mind something new.

  • http://twitter.com/jkc120 Josh Carroll

I chose “X” phone since there wasn’t an option that simply stated “Another Nexus on Verizon” (which I know probably will never happen again, but a guy can dream, eh?).

    • http://www.droid-life.com Kellex B

Probably not happening, you are correct. :(
