Is this going to have a practical effect on the quality of images? Or is this just going to be post-processing that only works with Toshiba’s proprietary camera app? If it’s not open to everyone, it’s just not going to be worth anything.

Honestly, camera’s should be a major selling point for all smartphone manufacturers. I would rather have a quality camera on my smartphone that I use every single day and take everywhere with me than going out and buying a separate camera
