TasKarou Launcher Overlay Adds Quick Controls to Your Whole Device

If you’re familiar with Quick Controls from the Browser application, then you’ll know that by placing a finger on the edge of your device, you can access many settings and options from anywhere in the app. With TasKarou, you can access many system settings and recent apps from anywhere on your device, at any time.

After installation and enabling the app, you’re good to go. I’m hoping in a future update you can change the color possibly and maybe add in some other quick settings like brightness or something along those lines.

What app is running the clock widget? I have minimalist text but that looks nicer

  • simular to the old first else concept phone …I wish this could be expanded to a full first else type UI

If you like the idea of this then you need to try out LMT Launcher from XDA. It is much better and way more customizable then this app. It has the ability to change color, you can add custom shortucts to the pie menu, change the size and arc of the pie, set what part of the screen it can be activated from, the list goes on and on.

Where did you get that wallpaper!?

  • CapnShiner

This is nothing new. There is an app called Wave Launcher which basically does the same thing. I got it when Amazon had it as the free app of the day. That was close to 2 years ago.

This is probably the first thing that would prompt me to remove the Google search bar. Could potentially make the Nav bar obsolete.

  • joejoe5709

Pretty cool. Lots of potential but it overtakes browser quick controls so… No bueno. I’ll revisit this one after awhile to see if they fixed it.

  • ImDoneWithMyOldPoopName

Doesn’t even have enough options like LMT.

Initial reaction says cool. Feels like it’s slowing down SwiftKey a bit, though, on my Nexus 4. I will have to play with this some more.

Isn’t that the same feature that swipepad offers?

    • Well, not exactly. Although, you cannot use this with SwipePad, so you have to pick one or the other.

How’d you get Clock Plus as a widget?

  • I started to use this but it causes random freezing when using the keyboard, swiping and other functions .. until there is an update for that dont think I will be using it.

It’s funny that the icons being shown in the pic remind me of a yahoo article that I read early today about leaked BB 10OS images. I wish i could find it again to share it.

Please Share that wallpaper! is awesome

There hasn’t been much improvement since the last time Android Police came out with a review on this launcher. Still been waiting on more development and customization.

You should try out LMT Launcher from XDA then. Many more options then this app has

  • jcorf

When oh when will quick controls come to Chrome??

    • My guess is never. Swiping from the edge already does something in Chrome.

  • cizzlen

Seems VERY convenient. I hate having to re-adjust the phone just so I can click the button on the top right, left or wherever it is.

  • Seems like something that’d be pretty good.. with devices that don’t have virtual keys. i.e. SIII, One X.

  • PalmerAdam

Whats the point if the nav bar is still shown?

    • Jimmy Hogoboom

I think the overlay has options which aren’t present on the nav bar. The screenshot shows a settings button and search. The multitasking button is redundant, though.

  • I NEED that wallpaper lol where is it?

  • Jason Purp

    I can has that wallpaper?

      • Okay, you can stop now. Jesus. Trying to keep a stash for myself! lol

        • Oh, whoops. Well, uh, nothing to see here.

        • share the wealth…..you always seem to have some of the nicest wallpapers. you should just post a link to the wallpaper whenever you post a screen shot/image of your phone. i really want that purple/blue one you were using on the DNA last week 🙂

  • Luxferro

Seems like it’s a poor ripoff of lmt launcher.

    • Bigwavedave25

I have used LMT multiple times on different Roms (GNex). Color and target change options too.

    • justincase_2008

Yeah it does. Been using LMT for a long time.

  • vitriolix

Pretty cool. Didn’t realise you could do that kind of global stuff with a launcher. I wonder how well the edge swipes play with Chrome’s edge swipes

    • vitriolix

Doesn’t detect the swipe gesture on my Galaxy Note 2… oh well.
