ever since i updated this morning, i can no longer send texts - whenever i open any text app (And I DL several to see if that would help) It only says that the program is not responding. I can receive texts, but I cannot reply them without the phone freezing and then displaying the message that the app is no longer responding. Does anyone have advice?

What's happening with the notification LED light? It appears to be much dimmer than before. I've seen on a few other sites for all variant models that this is an issue with all GS3's updating to JB. Odd indeed but not a kill move. Just wondered if anyone else is experiencing the same thing too.

If you noticed your email is darker now, and the brightness just wont come like it did before the update, here is what you need to do.
Tap on SETTINGS --> Power Saving Mode ---> uncheck Background Color.

Now you can leave power saving enabled and have your email stay at the normal brightness you had it on before your JB update.

Wanted to share this with everyone since it drove me nuts for about 20 minutes.

Been running it since Friday. Battery life is worse now. Didn't notice it Friday or Saturday, but then started using Goggle Now on Sunday, and noticed the battery life diminish. I did turn Google Now on Friday but didn't do anything with it.
Also now when I activate the GPS I keep getting the notice about 'by selecting GPS services, you are allowing access...' and then either select cancel or agree. I never had that pop up window appear before, and whenever I activate it, up comes the popup window. Is there a way to turn this off so it doesn't keep appearing?

I'm still waiting for a clear answer on this too. Until then, I'm sadly denying the update. Reading here, other sites, and dozens of foxfi reviews on the Play store, I still don't have a clear answer on weather or not this kills Foxfi. Some report it still works. Some say it breaks it. Foxfi's own compatibility page still says GS3 not compatible, do not upgrade to JB. But does not specify carrier. Sprint seems to be a definite no. Verizon and att more unclear.

I'm unrooted stock Verizon GS3, latest ota update before JB, and on unlimited data, and have paid the $7 for the full Foxfi, which works good now.(You just have to know the tweaks, like force stopping the app, restarting it, to get the hotspot to show up again, which is easier than restarting the phone or constantly renaming/passwording your hotspot etc.) Maybe being on unlimited data or not is a factor. If it just enables the stock jellybean hotspot, that's useless, as Verizon will I assume catch on to it and charge monthly for using it. If it works and just shows phone hotspot "on" while actually bypassing Verizons sign up "additional charges", great.

Anyone with any further insight? As much as I want Jellybean, until I know for sure, I'm not updating, as WiFi hotspot is essential for me.

The constantly running Media Server bug was present under ICS and it will also kill your battery if it finds a single bad song or jpeg etc. One more reason why TouchWiz & Samsung both blow chunks. And yet another reason to hate Google for pitifully trying to be like Apple and doing everything they can to drop native SD card support from the OS.

I am really getting disenchanted with the whole Android ecosystem as a whole these days. There are just too many bugs, quirks, delays, broken promises, and caveats even if you are running on a new, flagship, unrooted, bone-stock device.

I'm running into the same issues. Starting at 100% I open up the reddit app read 5 or 6 articles and my battery is down to 96%. I don't use the phone for 30 mins and check it again and it's down to 89%. Apparently there's several large bugs that cause the battery to drain really really fast.
1) The media server will cause the battery to drain if you have any corrupt songs on your SD card.
2) Turning Google Now on sucks the battery extremely fast. I'm guessing because of it's constant information gathering in the background.
3) Google Map's periodicity polls for your current location. It never used to eat battery life but apparently now it does so by turning off that part in the app it's supposed to save some batter. Personally I haven't noticed a difference so I just keep it on.

There's more things people have been finding but those three seem to be the biggest. I can confirm that turning Google Now off did help a lot. I don't have any music on my phone so the media server doesn't really use any battery life on me.
