Rockstar Apologizes For Vice City Delay, Hopes to Launch Again By Next Weekend

Well, this will be just a quick update on the failed launch of Grand Theft Auto Vice City for Android. This morning, the game went live on Google Play, got downloaded by a few hundred people, then taken down due to some validating errors with the APK. It sucks, but these things happen. Rockstar issued an apology on their blog and have said that we can expect another release for the end of next week.

Hey guys, due to unforeseen technical issues, the Android release of Vice City will be slightly delayed. Our goal is to get this out for Android by the end of next week. Our apologies for the delay to all our fans on Android devices and please stay tuned for updates.

In other news, the iOS version works great!

Cheers Frank!

I can agree we do get the step-child treatment i will buy this game and many more will…. I own Samsung Galaxy s3…. And boy I can’t wait to purchase this game from Rockstar! I love the Gta Series! Please put more effort into getting it done by this week end…. Or please meet your goal if possible… I’m tired of waiting!

That’s because android doesn’t make you pay high price for crap like apple does… Even the founder of Android said so about his friend steve nutjobs

How do you play this on an iPhone? Someone have baby hands?

  • Spelaren

So… how about a little apology for screwing the pc crowd regarding gta v? I mean it’s probably coming, but a little confirmation would be great.

  • Joel

At least Rockstar does what they say… i’m going to wait for 10th-Aniversary San Andreas (2014???)

  • smooth moves

Android gets the stepchild treatment once again smh

WTF?! NEXT weekend? That is just f’d up beyond belief. Leave it to Rockstar to really screw over their Android fans.

Seriously though, they couldn’t have maybe put two or three people on this to get it fixed as soon as possible? I’m no developer, but this really takes a week to fix? An XAPK validating error? Wow. That just doesn’t seem right.

I think them bast*rds over at Apple sent over some of their Samsung settlement money and said, “Hey Rockstar…if you delay the Android release of GTA: Vice City for one week only, we’ll make it worth your wild. No one has to know. Perhaps just create a fake error and everyone will believe that!” Rockstar replies with, “I don’t know…hmm…” Then Apple sweeten’s the deal, “Okay…we’ll send you a boat load of money…and a boat load of woman! Deal?” Rockstar replies, “DEAL!”

    Sons of bit*ches!

And one last thing…why would you end your post with “In other news, the iOS version works great!“? That is pretty messed up man, and just plain wrong.

Whoa buddy, its gonna be OK.

      • EvanTheGamer

No it’s not! Rockstar really screwed the blood pooch on this one!

lol jk Partially a joke post.

    • Whoa, Bro.

    • michael arazan

Or you could just buy the game and an old PS2 on ebay for $25 combined price, if you really can’t wait.

      • EvanTheGamer

Or I could try and find my Grand Theft Auto Double Pack, which includes both GTA 3 and Vice City for original Xbox, then play VC on my 360 and save $25. Bam!

        Thanks though. haha

And I can wait, I was just making a funny post ’cause my magic cow was out walking my talking dog, and at the time of post, I had nothing better to do. You see…I usually walk the dog, and my magic cow insisted. Don’t wanna mess with a magic cow that could turn you into a red toad at any given minute.

        So yeah..that’s it.

What a joke saying they didn’t intend to launch. Nice cover up. Then say its delayed. This has nothing to do with Google standardizing anything. It has to do with a dev who decided not to have Google host their expansion files.

  • This is what happens when Google doesn’t standardize Android….

  • KennyVeltre

Hopefully its out by Christmas so i can play it on my nexus 7!

  • Frank Fiorta

Glad I spent $5, opened the app, went and made breakfast to come back to my phone and see the game not working. And out of the horribly small refund window. Oh well, next week it is…
