Video: 28 Android Powered Sphero Robotic Balls Dance a X-mas Jig

The folks at Sphero took to Union Square with 28 of their robotic balls and four Android smartphones to put together this beautiful display of color and coordination. Set to Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s “Christmas Eve / Sarajevo,” how can you not get into the holiday spirit after watching this?

Give a, give a, give a Garmin…

nice, but i’d love to see more shapes, like a star, or Christmas tree, etc. is that possible to program, like dots and a marching band set, etc? Great job, though!

  • EvanTheGamer

    That was…awesome! Very cool.

  • Trevor

I hate to be a debbie downer, but that would have been a lot cooler if they spelled stuff and/or made pictures with the spheres.

Glad to see someone finally found a use for the Nexus Q

    • Mike @ Sphero

They are Samsung Galaxy Nexus’. We used them, because they proved the best at managing 7 bluetooth connections (lowest latency) of all the Android devices we have. And we have A LOT of Android devices 😉

  • CapnShiner

LOL, I see Kellen has fallen victim to Garmin’s marketing as well. Damn them.

  • enigmaco

That is one of the coolest things I have seen in a long time.

  • That was awesome. Maybe Santa will know….

“A X-Mas Jig”.. “A Christmas Jig” sounds so much better. If you were going to use x-mas anyway it would be “An X-Mas Jig”, not ‘A’.

    • “A” goes before words that begin with consonants.
“An” goes before words that begin with vowels.

X-Mas starts with a consonant last i checked.

      • It’s not the letter, but the actual sound. an X-Mas is correct if you pronounce phonetically. A X-Mas if you pronounce it like christmas.

      • AJA0

So, you’re telling me you would say “I went to an European diner” ?

    • Jordan Matelsky

X-mas comes from the Greek letter chi, χ. So it could be “A χMas jig” if it really wanted, but that’s lame and who cares.

    • “A” goes before words that begin with consonants.
“An” goes before words that begin with vowels.

X-Mas starts with a consonant last time I checked.
