I since rolled back because of this and some other minor bugs I’ve experienced with this update. Wonder if this is specific to certain devices, or 4.1, or if it even affects the software it’s supposed to providing fixes for. Either way, it’s disappointing, and since the app barely gets updated regularly, it’s even more frustrating.

I wish they did more to this app then a 4.2 bugfix. This app is surely lacking. Google, please improve your client-side application and quit being a back-end oriented company.

i just got the update to 4.2 on my Nexus 7 and in the Play Store, Google Voice had an update. i tried updating and even uninstalled and tried to reinstall, but getting this error:

“Google voice” could not be downloaded due to an error.(Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0])

i am not rooted or anything.

theres a tutorial? if you know what day/time can you share the info…..locked screen etc 4.2. seems more an act of frustration than benefit. I keep deleting the clock it miraculously reappers…..its so fuggggggly looking ughhhhh

I was hoping this update would fix it, but voicemails still playback through only the speakerphone on my GNex, no matter the settings. Has anyone else had this problem?

Just picked the Gnex up to replace my tbolt a few days ago. Rooting tonight or tomorrow. What do you think the lead on the official 4.2 will be? The binaries are already released.

Bad news: you have to re-login and re-setup.

good news: all you have to do is go into settings and re-direct your voicemail back to Google voice, you don’t need to do all the PITA setup / dialing / entering codes, etc. so it only took a minute or so.

so not too bad.
