i did both, and they are more yellow than gold. had a hard time getting the gold to show up over the black backgrounds. sorry it took so long

Then leave Verizon and get an unlocked nexus or root and custom ROM. Those are really your only options. It doesn’t matter much which phone you get as long as it is a flagship. I wouldn’t blame HTC, Verizon can’t even get out a timely update to the GNEX and it’s AOSP.
