If you are looking to install the Android 4.2 keyboard onto any of your devices, this is now the easiest way to do it. Thanks to a 3rd party dev, the keyboard, and all of its swiping goodness, is now on Google Play for the easiest installing and applying possible.

Go grab it and try it out if you haven’t already. We love it.

Cheers Darrick!

Hey Guys i beleive this was taken off Google Play. I cannot seem to find it and the link is broken

  • tim

    Broken Play Link?…

  • Flexible_Tech_Girl

Droid-Life only cares about telling everyone “go install it now.” They don’t tell (or even know) about the big security risk.

  • John Huie

was this taken down? tried to download it last night, but it wasn’t compatible w/ my s3. now i can’t find it…

  • fauxshizzl

Did they pull the app or is the link just dead?

  • And the link is dead…

    • parkler

      anyone have the .apk file?

  • Alex Instefjord

is there a minimum android version required for this? I’m on a 4.0 ROM on my droid x and it says its not compatible with my device.

  • gp126904

It looks like you have to be running 4.1 to download it, from the listing in the play store:

    REQUIRES ANDROID:4.1 and up

  • It’s incompatible with droid razr maxx 🙁

  • Brent Cooper

    Not compatible my razr maxx

  • Jaime

Worked for about an hour but now it keeps force closing. Running on a GNexus, latest Bugless Beast ROM

  • joejoe5709

Never been a big fan of Swype style keyboards and I’m still not in love with the 4.2 keyboard. But because it’s baked in, I’m much more likely to use it. And when I use it, it’s pretty darn accurate. Thanks Google!

  • Flat_Stanley

I have a related question. If I installed the 4.2 keyboard from the previous .zip (using CWM), how do I go about uninstalling it later? Like if I want to remove it altogether? Sorry for the newb question.

  • Ibrick

If you’re running a ROM that already includes the 4.2 keyboard, don’t dl this or it’ll fc constantly.

Thought this version might be newer, but caused nothing but issues.

    Just a heads up.

  • Alexander Anteneh

    works great on verizon gnex

  • Nazzi_Muhammad

Not compatible with the Galaxy S3, but yes on the Note 2.

    • Installed fine on my S3, but perhaps because of the ROM I am running.

  • Johnny Wishbonn

Say not available for my device. I have a Droid 4

  • Ant R

Only shows up on my N7 and TF300

  • Still banking on SwiftKey Flow!

    • Flat_Stanley

I am also looking forward to this. The #1 reason I prefer SwiftKey over the stock keyboard (even with the text predictions), is that all the keys have secondary functions with SwiftKey. I may be outside the norm, but I actually prefer to use punctuation when I type, so having quick and easy access to all the symbols without having to navigate to a secondary menu is a huge plus.

The only downside is that I consistently experience little lags and stutters when using SwiftKey, something not present in the stock keyboard.

      • Br_d

I also love the ability to swipe right to left to delete a whole word. I didn’t realize how much I missed it till I didn’t have it.

        • Adam Marr

Big time, I still do this out of habit. I wonder if Flow will have a similar feature however, since swiping will now serve another purpose.

    • AranelAlasse

I just tested drove a galaxy note II at best buy, and in the settings for the keyboard, I saw the phrase “SwiftKey flow”, so that phone must already be using it. Awesome.

  • duoexo

Downloaded and works greaton my GNEX. Changed back as it wouldn’t keep some of my obscene words.

  • I don’t know if I would trust this….seems like an easy way to get alot of personal information from people…THIRSTY to install this app

    • anezarati

I was thinking the same thing so I uninstalled it. I’ll wait for the official or swiftkey flow

    • Droidzilla

If there’s no internet access, you have nothing to fear.

  • Mike

    Downloading to my GNex now

  • I tried it since it was released… I still like swype due to the fact that it remembers my swype if I need to change a word after I proof read my text… this keyboard you need to replace and retry the word

  • JP

    Not available on my RAZR

  • Pegleg

What devices does it actually work on?

  • Gary Terpak

    Not compatible with my device?

  • Lorrimar

It’s showing as not compatible with my Verizon s3 as well.

    • FortitudineVincimus

It only shows as compatible with my TF201 so it must be 4.1 required

  • nice….. was hoping devs would be all over this

  • prestone1

thanks for mentioning this. swiping is not working after selecting the keyboard under settings. still messing with it..

    • prestone1

      working. awesome

  • Alex

Do you need to be on 4.1? It says not compatible with the Razr…

    • Justin W

      And the bionic.

    • Stephen Jones

      +1 to my Razr MAXX

      • jeesung

    • gp126904

I think so, I am running CM10 on my razr maxx and it downloaded works perfectly. So you probably need 4.1

      • where can i get a cm10 build for my razr maxx?

        • can you flash custom roms on a locked razr

        • gp126904

Thats the one I am currently running (stock cm10 20121110). It still has some bugs like camera flash not working, screen rotation looks horrible, and not front facing camera recording but all in all its pretty sweet.

    • kixofmyg0t

It installed on both my RAZR HD and RAZR M running JB but it fc’s. Oh well back to SwiftKey.
