Nexus 10 Already Spotted at Walmart Ahead of Official November 13 Launch

While doing some late night shopping, a customer was walking through the tech section of their local Walmart and spotted the Nexus 10 tablet, 32GB selling for $500. Due to the time of the spotting, there wasn’t an employee around to procure about purchasing the item, but if he would have been able to do so, that would have been a major score. The tablet is supposed to hit shelves next week on the 13th of November.

Now, go out to your local Walmart and see if you can find one for yourself.

im going to call ever damn walmart every day til the 13th a 10 mile radius f*ck everyone!

Nexus 7 owner here… can’t wait for Nexus 10 in my hands…FTW! Don’t need it, who cares?!

  • TheWenger

I’m going to Wa Mart after work tomorrow to scout for a new N10.

  • Josh Hendrix

My Walmart had this tag but nothing in the shelf above it. Even had a employee come see if they had any. He scanned the sku and said no. Ill be checking back every day till 13th.

  • George

I am going to get the Nexus 7 32GB in December but I first want to hold the Nexus 10 in my hand and check it out before I make the decision. I did see and hold the Ipad Mini today and I have to say the usable screen size at 7.9 inches is perfect. Too bad it’s Apple though.

  • Travis Williams

I work for Wal*mart in both Electronics and the Connection Center. I can confirm we will indeed be selling the Nexus 10, but I can add that the modular setup for it is set to be finished by no later than the 15th; thus it may be out to play with earlier than that time.

    • http://photo.katzmatt.com Matt Katzenberger

Are you saying we won’t be able to buy a n10 at walmart until the 15th, not the 13th when it comes out?

      • Travis Williams

I’m simply saying that Home Office will require us to have it done by then. Whether or not it is there, or for sale is up to the distributors, and your local Wal*mart Electronics department manager, as they give the go-ahead to set up the units. But as soon as they get them in (and hopefully AFTER the 13th) you should be able to buy one. But with the Windows 8 Release fiasco, you may find a store willing to sell it to you before then…

I am looking forward to this tablet, but some of the early reviews I’ve read haven’t been the best.

Engadget, for example, wasn’t to high on the display. Yes it’s a high resolution, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best. Contrast was not good according to the review.

Also, battery life and performance were not top of the line. They actually said they preferred the Infinity Pad over the Nexus 10, going as far to say the screen on the Infinity was much better, albeit with a slightly lower resolution screen.

    Just some food for thought.

    • Colin Huber

Engadget is one source. Read some more.

      • Charlie

I have, and have seen similar results. I will have to dig later to show more instances. I will probably end up getting one of these next year, but I don’t expect it to be a cream of the crop product after early reviews.

    • http://photo.katzmatt.com Matt Katzenberger

Most of those reviews seem to only be comparing the N10’s screen to the newest iPad. I’d like to see how it stacks up against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Acer a500, Asus Transformer Prime, and the Asus Pad Infinity.

    • http://twitter.com/BlackBlizzNerd Ben Landwehr

TheVerge said the same thing about the contrast, but also said with that minor issue, it made it just AS good as the iPads. If they can fix that maybe with an update or ROM/Kernel, it’ll look even better.

TheVerge also said their battery life was great, went 3 days without needing a charge.

I don’t like Endgadget, by the way.

    • BakerDude

The battery life and GPU performance is what killed it for me. For the same price you’ll get 2-3 hours MORE battery life and probably twice the GPU performance choosing an ipad. For people like me, that primarily use email and browse, the ipad resolution is more than fine. People will flood in to defend the Nexus 10 but there is no excuse for the piss-poor battery life! Also, Google knew that pushing those pixels would strain the GPU, so they should have made the device a few MM’s thicker, added a larger battery, and clocked the GPU higher. This would have given the device a longer run time and better overall performance. The OS also still needs work. It needs to be “lighter” because there is no reason for these iOS devices to be spanking Android with equal hardware.

  • snowblind64

That’s cool and all but I wouldn’t be caught dead in a Walmart. Horrible, horrible store. I went to one a few years ago, nothing but the lowest of the low class terrible people there.

    • Spongehead

So, it’s a lot like Northern California?

      • http://twitter.com/TucsTwo TucsTwo

        yeah so

      • snowblind64

Google’s from northern California. I guess you’re a Walmart employee. My condolences.

    • http://twitter.com/Mikeg1969 Mike Gomes

What does that have to do with a Nexus 10? I’ll buy one wherever I can find one on launch day.

      • snowblind64

“What does that have to do with a Nexus 10?”

It’s being sold there. See below for examples of why one might want to shop elsewhere.

        http://www.peopleofwalmart.com

        • Andy

Who cares about that site. 95% of the items they sell there are cheaper than most every store. I rather pay lower prices than worry about the.clientele.

    • DanSan

lol but its great if u want to exchange an older C60 serial number nexus7 for a C90 :)

  • iNfAMOUS70702

Las Vegas is too big and has too many Walmarts to check them all… looks like I’m just gonna have to wait till the 13th D:

  • Edward Lantigua

that doesn’t seem to be the box of the Nexus. I thought it was Grey with black on the inside?

  • http://www.facebook.com/todd.vanlaningham Todd Van Laningham

I can’t wait to get this. Hoping it will pop up somewhere this weekend. I’ll check out my local Walmart tomorrow.

  • Droid Burgundy

LOL seeing this article makes the post yesterday about Kmart’s knockoff tablet special that much funnier!

    • Andy

      what do you mean?

  • http://photo.katzmatt.com Matt Katzenberger

BLARG. Nothing at my closest walmart :(

  • asdf

“procure” means to obtain. I think you mean “inquire.”

    • William Peterson

Funny… I read procure and the mind heard inquire. Guess it just rolled with the sentence.

  • acrobatsausages

The guy couldn’t just ask for assistance?

    • Prime7

That’s exactly what I was thinking. You could bet that if I saw an extra Wii U or something just lying around, I would call someone over and snag it immediately.

    • Jarred Sutherland

Have you ever been to Walmart before? That store isn’t big on providing assistance …

      • acrobatsausages

I’m sayin, for an unreleased Nexus I would walk my happy ass to the nearest checkout lane if need be.

  • chanstar

The first tablet I’ll be purchasing. Even if its for my GF lol. I’ll just use it with the multi-user account.

I want Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 NOW!

    • anon

You want no LTE??? Insane. Once you go LTE you never go back.

      • Edward Lantigua

Some people do not have a choice. Look at me, I’m with T-Mobile and do not offer LTE and I dont mind because I get great speed with HSPA+. Now At&t, only offers LTE in some cities. So why include LTE if maybe 20-25% will be able to use it? Plus if they had included a LTE chip, no way could they have done $299

        • DanSan

what kind of speeds do u get with tmobile on the HSPA+? i have verizon and its my brother (galaxy s3), myself (nexus) and my mom (dumb phone) and we pay like $180 a month. both smartphones have unlimited data. tmobile has cheap ass plans but im worried about speed. i mean anything faster than 10mbp/s is fine for me.

      • http://twitter.com/msrl Matt Lindsay

I have had LTE with Verizon and it was nice… But honestly, since I switched to straight talk, I have never been happier. I am tired of paying $180 for two phones. Even if that does mean very fast speeds. ATT doesnt have LTE in this area and wont for a very long time. So of course I am getting the Nexus 4!!!

      • http://twitter.com/fr8cture Eric

LTE!? Who wants LTE!? LTE is a data burner and pointless. Why do you think we have limited data plans. If it wasn’t for the BS “beta” stage of LTE i would be sitting here with unlimited data.

        • Colin Zack

I don’t understand how LTE can be a data burner. It doesn’t use extra data, it just gets your data faster.

          • Luke Dosiek

you get your data faster, so now you have more time to kill… time spent surfing the web and using more data!

          • http://twitter.com/SparkysShocker SparkysShocker

Again it doesn’t magically burn data though

          • http://twitter.com/fr8cture Eric

            right there.

      • Benjamin Sicard

I’ve had LTE, and can still use LTE if I want to. The thing is, I don’t want to. I’m sure those Verizon commercials about people hurling lightning javelins are doing a great job at making you think that it’s fast, but it’s really not noticeably different from T-Mobile’s HSPA+ in my area(Metro Massachusetts).

I’m in complete agreement with Google that LTE isn’t mature enough yet, and I completely agree with their unspoken reason for forgoing LTE: Screw Verizon. They royally messed up the Galaxy Nexus and continue to stifle other phones with their restrictions(Google Wallet, tethering, updating).

The Nexus 4 will last me until VoLTE is a reality, and until LTE is worth it in general. Probably longer.

    • Dan

I want Nexus 5 and Nexus 8 NOW!

  • http://www.facebook.com/will.c.carr Will C Carr

I want this device, but I’m just bothered a bit by how big they make the bezel. It just seems like added unnecessary space. I’m still fine with my Xoom since the JB update it’s been working like a dream, but in a year or so I’m gonna be on the market for a new tablet and I hope that another Nexus tablet is available with a smaller bezel (like the Xoom).

  • smell my finger

Google is pushing to have developers create 10 inch tablet apps. The growing belief is that it will be trending upwards with the release of the N10

  • Mack

    I love my Nexus 7. Do I need a 10″ tablet?? No.

    Do I want a Nexus 10?? Absofuckinlutely

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1503310639 Kree Terry

This is word for word how i feel. Im almost tempted to not even see it in person so i wont buy it out of impulse.

    • http://twitter.com/BlackBlizzNerd Ben Landwehr

I absolutely agree, haha. I think I’ll pick up the 16gig on Tuesday regardless, though! If I don’t like it, I’ll sell it and just lose like 20bucks lol.

      • michael arazan

Why sell, Nexus 7’s (even used) make great stocking stuffers for family and friends

        • http://twitter.com/BlackBlizzNerd Ben Landwehr

Oh no, I’m keeping the 7. I meant if I find no real use for the Nexus 10.

    • picaso86

Price was that killing factor…its too expensive!

  • adam

Aren’t apps better on the N7 and less stretched out than apps and games for the N10?

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Great for many. But there’s a reason the N7 is the only tablet I bought with my own money.

    • Colin Huber

Can’t wait to buy this one.

    • vitriolix

I honestly would like one of each, but can’t justify the cost. I really like the 10″ form factor for a lot of stuff, mostly when I’m working and reading documentation as I code… but the Nexus 7 is so damned small and light… would love it for reading books in bed.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1503310639 Kree Terry

ive been thinking of selling my n7 and getting the n10. but i just got a 15in macbook so i think between my gnex, my n7, and my 15in laptop i have a good balance. i still want the nexus 10 though, that screen is gorgeous!!!! (i assume, as i havent actually seen it yet lol)

  • http://twitter.com/mattlgroff Matt Groff

I will have to go check my walmarts :)

    • Larizard

i hope they have one out on display. I really wanna see that screen in action.

    • http://photo.katzmatt.com Matt Katzenberger

Went to my closest walmart and they didn’t have them in the display :(

Although this does leave me hopeful that we’ll be able to pick them up in store on the 13th.
