this is really a terrible waste of miles considering you can fly round trip from the continental US to Hawaii for 40k miles.

I think it could be based on status with the airline. I’m only a Premiere Silver. Maybe Premier Golds and up get even better discounts?

Shows as 32,600 miles on my United account. I travel internationally for work frequently, and I book all my own travel and expense it back to the company, so I end up with a lot of miles. Six months of work travel easily nets me a Nexus without having to open my wallet. Too bad I have a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 on CM9 with 32g card already or I’d be thinking about this. .

Also, if you start a Chase United Explorer card account you get 40k miles, and no annual fee the first year so you could end up with one of these for little out of pocket expense.
