I don’t know why you would put me in a position where I have to defend an apple product but I’m defending myself now. If your eye notices the resolution difference then damn. The screen on the Xoom really isn’t anything to write home about. It’s dull, and I don’t know if you could argue that. It’s heavy and thick as hell. And I would have rather not waited a year and a half before I had a useable OS on there. Can we both agree honeycomb was a good idea, but just a mess? And I still have a shit-ton of apps to choose from. But hey, here’s to my galaxy nexus!

I am certainly very interested in an iPad mini… I would have bought the new iPad when it came out if I could justify the price, but seriously… $500 for a non-essential luxury item? That’s what it would be for me, and I can’t justify that. A $250 iPad mini? I’d totally spring for that…

That is depressing, and honestly lowers my enthusiasm for using Android products. Since Google’s support is practically non-existent (still waiting to hear back after 2 months about a replacement for my defective Nexus 7, and don’t even get me started on the problems I am having with Google Wallet), I was hoping that the “Android community” would be able to fill in the gaps left by Google. The XDA forums are usually OK, but it really turns me off coming to sites like this for news updates and just seeing so much unnecessary blind hatred.

Sadly no, because most of the sites that publish informative Android articles are frequented by people who justify their support of Android by ripping Apple in the comments section. In a related story, these people are hypocrites, acting every bit like the blind sheep that they accuse Apple fans of being. It takes away from the bigger picture, which is that we as consumers are fortunate enough to have 2 awesome mobile platforms in Android and iOS ( hopefully 3, if Windows Mobile is successful). While both platforms are different, only a biased fool would fail to see the positive influences that each has had on the other over the past few years. Instead, you see mind numbing, pointless arguments like the thread above debating the legitimacy of the term retina vs AMOLED. Take a look at both screens – they’re terrific, essentially giving users HD TVs that fit in the palm of their hands. But sure enough, even something this obvious and seemingly non-controversial degenerates into a stupid hatefest just because Apple is involved. People need to chill and enjoy both products. Less fanboyism, more reality please.

In the early days of Apple they were innovators (I’m talking the days of Steve Wozniak). But I couldn’t agree more that almost all of their products released in the last 10 years have been rip-offs of other products!

I watched a bunch of stuff on these last night. I am interested to see what Microsoft brings to market with the Surface and Windows 8 before I make any tablet decisions.
That being said, I won’t be buying any Apple products anytime soon. Probably ever.

I also have both phones and the nexus and all other super AMOLED displays are useless in sunlight. Personally I would take having to take off my polarized sunglasses (which I do have and use everyday) and still be able to use the iPhone then to not see the display at all In sunlight

You do know you can download books, movies, music, etc., on an iPad without iTunes on your PC/Mac. I have an iPad and a GS3. I never need to plug either one of them in to my desktop.

Who really cares if Steve Jobs greenlit the 4″ iPhone 5 or the 7.8″ iPad. The sizes are clearly where the market is heading. So what if Apple too goes in that direction. Steve is no longer in charge. It’ll either sell a bazillion units or it wont. Either way Apple will make money, their customers will be happy and it wont affect Android users in the slightest.
