have they said anything about that for the HD versions? i know last years can do that, but i dunno about these. If they do, Verizon might have “locked” those radios, making them only work when you get some overseas/traveling plan, and it wouldnt be as simple as putting a sim card in them.

I thought Razr phones have both lte and gsm because they are global capable, ist or didn’t verizon release an update that a allows razr’s to be gsm for global?

Verizon sims are just for LTE data, CDMA is still used for voice, which doesnt have a sim, so all that would bring over is LTE data and you wouldnt be able to make calls. Also, the GNex on the Play Store only has GSM radios in it, it doesnt have any CDMA or LTE radios, so that would be the first thing that stops it from working on verizon. If youre talking about an unlocked Nexus from verizon, then yes taking the sim from your TB and putting it in would work, barring any contract silliness

I believe it’s because right now we are still relient on Verizon’s CDMA network for voice, and only use LTE for data. Since CDMA is not SIM-based, we are basically screwed when it comes to buying/using unlocked phones for now. It may be a different story when VZW’s network is 100% covered in LTE and they start doing voice over LTE (VoLTE).

Someone more in the know, feel free to correct me if I’m wrong about any of that stuff.

There is something I don’t get. Nexus phones are sold unlocked, right? Why can’t I get one and stick the sim from my TB in it? Or is it just incompatible with Verizon’s network?
