No, most aren’t. But I think the announcement is more geared to people like the ones on this forum. Also, a lot of manufacturers probably do it to see how much interest there is and see reactions to the product when there is still time to tweak it if most people have a problem with it.

Car manufacturers do the same kind of thing but worse with their concept cars. The camaro was shown and announced and put off for a long time. At least the phone manufacturers don’t put off the phones they announce well past the general time they say it will be released lol

But why announce it if it’s not ready? Like I said there is no excuse if the phone isn’t ready don’t announce it. This “well they do it so people don’t jump ship” mentality is b.s. I mean most arent going to wait months for a phone that was announced if they can upgrade they are going to get a phone they can get that day.

Well, I wouldn’t say the announcement has much to do with how fast phones become outdated. It’s not like them announcing it now slows down its release.

Sorry if it’s not ready to be sold within a week or two don’t announce it. These announcements come and then the phone is already semi outdated with how fast android devices come out and one up the others

At least we get the announcements earlier though. Otherwise, there’d still be no announcement on the Razr HD yet (or would have just heard about it this week if it comes out next week).

This way, we often know that there’s a phone worth waiting for, before jumping on another.

Why is it no android manufacturer can announce a product and a solid release date? Take a page from apple, announce it and have it available a week or so later.

its just on the lockscreen. they get bigger as you unlock the screen, this way you can directly go to calls, messages and stuff, whatever you want
