Today’s $0.25 Android Apps are Live – Horn, Nova Launcher Prime, Gravity Guy and More

In what may be the final day of Google’s 25 billion app downloads celebration, we have the new set of apps up for $0.25 download. Today’s bunch includes Horn, one of the most talked about games of the last year. You’ll also find other mega-hits like Nova Launcher Prime, Scramble With Friends, Great Big War Game, and Gravity Guy.

Play Link

  • Horn doesn’t work on the droid razr maxx HD either but the play store will still let you buy it. They told me its because of the Qualcomm S4 processor .

  • noooooooooooooooooo

    damn i missed it!

  • sk3litor

Horns not there and Batman is 2 FRIGGIN GIGS!!!

  • El Big CHRIS

I had already purchased Nova launcher to support the devs but man I wished I’ve waited for the $.25 special. Hopefully Apex does the same…

  • Blackmagic1o0

Alright guys so those of you who want to buy “Horn” and currently dont have a Tegra 3 device (I have VZW Galaxy Nexus), you pretty much have to find a friend that has a Tegra device and login using theirs tablet/phone. From there you can purchase it and send it to your friends device so you can at least have it on your account, so when you do decide to get that Tegra 3 device you’ll have it.

  • JDHokie

Bravo Google. I know some of the apps were offered at other times, but I picked up a number of games and other apps that I may not have even known about otherwise. If I don’t play something or it turns out it isn’t good … I’m out a quarter.

  • Danny stone

would be nice if the store would let you buy it even if it isn’t compatible with your current device. Planning on getting a Nexus 7 after my kitchen remodel gets done but the play store online wont let me buy it.

    • SeanBello

      yeah, this makes no sense

  • Brian

Anyone else burned by Madden the other day? Galaxy Nexus here. Won’t download the additional required data.

    • I passed, but have had lots of problems with EA’s mobile games so I usually try to avoid them.

    • antinorm

The server they use for that extra data must be down. If you look at Madden 2012’s ratings (select ‘Newest First’), there are an awful lot of one-star ratings at the top. This being a business day, hopefully they’ll get it fixed within the next few hours.

  • SeanBello

I keep getting an error when trying to purchase these apps:

Uh oh. There was a problem. We couldn’t complete your purchase because of a technical issue.Details of the problem below:We were unable to verify your account information. Please visitwallet.google.com/manage in order to resolve this issue.

    • Same here! Ughhh

      • SeanBello

I called Google and they were absolutely useless. I’m trying to buy Dark Knight and Nova Prime, they’re $11 off sale. wtf. They wouldn’t even give me a credit for the difference to buy them when they’re off sale even though their issue is the reason I can’t buy them. I’ve had so many problems with Google’s customer service, they’re atrocious.

        • SolipsisticPsychologist

It’s most likely your bank account being frozen, because they saw a bunch of purchases on your card all at once, and they freeze it because they assume it is fraud and someone got ahold of your card, and or card number. Of course, if youhaven’t recently purchased a bunch of apps all together at one time, this may not be the case for you. But for me it doesn’t normally hurt to call up my bank card people and ask if my account was put on hold. And if it is, they normally just have you verify personal information, to make sure it’s you.

          • SeanBello

just called again and they told me that my wallet account is suspended. wouldn’t give me a reason and said there was nobody I could talk to. has to all be done over email. no way it’s gonna get fixed by today for me to get Nova Prime or TDKR. even more pissed now than I was before.

  • Rob

Is there a device that Horn is compatible with?

    • JoshGroff

I can confirm N7 and T-Bolt, others are saying Bionic, Droid X, and RAZR are compatible. (not coming up as Bionic compatible on mine.) Besides that, anything Tegra 3 powered should be compatible.

  • EvanTheGamer

These $.25 deals blow the hell out of yesterday’s deals big time. The only truly fun game yesterday was the unknown Ski Safari(great f’n game right there!), but today’s deals…damn, so many awesome ones to choose from!

  • Is anyone else with a Gnex able to purchase Horn? I’m wondering if it’s just my ROM that’s making it incompatible. Running LiquidSmooth 2.0

    • JoshGroff

Running bugless beast, no love here either.

  • mmmpopfanatic

Debating buying Nova Prime just to try it out. Can anyone tell me the main differences between it and Apex? I’ve been quite faithful to Apex for months now.

    • JoshGroff

I have no idea, I haven’t tried apex. Nova is pretty awesome though, and I paid $4 for it last week. For a quarter, its well worth it.

    • You can try the free version of Nova. I bought the Pro one, but honestly don’t use any of the Pro features yet (but hey $.25). I found Nova a little faster, and there was some other reason I went with it over Apex that I’m forgetting now…. (helpful, I know :))
FYI, you should also be able to import your Apex backup into Nova to get started.

  • Jon

This $.25 sale has really made me realize that the 8 gigs on the Nexus 7 is just not enough. Just a few of these games and I’m almost out of space. I’m just going to keep only one of the big ones loaded at a time.

    • JB

I’ve got a 64gb USB drive on it’s way, just need to figure out how to link apps to USB instead of internal memory.

  • Chris Carter

Been all over this since Thursday

  • DB

aaaaand because HTC didn’t update my damn TBolt to ICS by 8/31 like they announced, I’m guessing that keeps me from being able to get Nova Launcher. Between that and the phone’s junk build quality (Soon to be on my 5th one.) this will be my last HTC phone.

    • JoshGroff

Install the leaked build, it’s super stable and get nova. Then flash back to stock if you’d like.

    • Justin W

You could also just purchase it from the online store, then wait until the OTA arrives, whichever you prefer. I’d go with the leaked build though, they seem to be fairly stable based on what I’ve seen on the net.

    • Nova’s worth it if you can get it, although to be honest, I don’t really use the Pro features. Also, I liked my Tbolt (Thundershed and Liquid ftw)

  • antinorm

The credit card companies are having all sorts of fun with this, it seems. I got a call from my CC company about an hour ago, asking about a series of small Google charges. I said they’re legitimate, and the representative said she has been seeing a lot of this lately.

    • Asimoalex

      Same here lol

    • cheezer88

this happened to me during the .10 deal, but not this time.

      • SolipsisticPsychologist

You have to do like I did, and tell them that sometimes during the month, you’ll make sporadic purchases for cheap, usually under a dollar, and they will be from Google. I had to tell them this on multiple occasions, but now it seems they finally got the message.

I’m all for fraud-watching measures, but at least have the courtesy to call me when you freeze my bank account. They would never do this for me, even after I asked them to.

  • FML I paid $7 for horn and only played for 10 minutes. Now it’s $0.25ยข

    • I feel your pain…..I got it when it first came, well worth the $7 at the time but feeling a bit of remorse with it being discounted today. Oh well, glad Google paid for it with the $25 credit I got with my Nexus 7 and not my own money.

      • Justin W

I’ve been going wild with the $.25 sale since I still had $11 left from the Nexus 7 purchase credit… I’m down to about $6, and I think I’m going back for more today xD

Also… I feel the remorse… I paid $6.99 for Mass Effect Infiltrator a few weeks ago and saw it on sale yesterday.

        • JoshGroff

I got it during the $.99 sale a while back, haven’t really played it much since though.

    • EvanTheGamer

Did the exact same damn thing, too. I did, however, use my $25 Google Store Credit towards Horn, so it wasn’t an entire loss. I’ll start playing the game again just as soon as free time opens up again.

    • JoshGroff

Same, and I don’t regret it one bit, I’ve saved a ton on other games.

    • T4rd

I guess this game isn’t compatible with the Gnex? I don’t see it listed.

  • ;( why doesn’t HORN work on GS3???

    • JoshGroff

      • stephen shavers

That can’t be right. i can install horn on my droidx (which i did), but could not install on my gs3. I bought it anyway hoping it will eventually become compatible with the gs3?

Its been a long time since i checked, but the dx doesn’t use a tegra processor does it?

        • JoshGroff

The x2 does, idk why it let you download on the x though.

          • Big_EZ

Beacause its not tegra only. It works on 3 omap devices that I know of, the Droid X, Bionic, and RAZR.

          • JoshGroff

I was under the impression it was tegra exclusive. Apparently not.

          • Danny stone

Doesnt even show up on my Razr Maxx

        • It won’t load on my DX. Nor will it load on my Galaxy Tab 10.1, which has a Tegra proc. So I don’t friggin’ know.

    • Jon

Yeah totally lame. Thankfully it works on the Nexus 7.

    • EvanTheGamer

Why doesn’t a lot of apps/games work on the GS3? Seriously, what bloody gives?!

Also, Horn is a Tegra 3 only game, so that’s probably why. lol

    • TheOiulkj

Exactly what I was thinking. It’s available for my dinc2, but not the gs3 or nexus. Explain that one, devs.

    • Seriously!

      • SolipsisticPsychologist

It’s not available for my Tegra tablet either. But I just noticed it was made by Zynga, who pretty much kick-started the pay-to-win gaming disease, that has afflicted so many developers. So, I’d be absolutely shocked if this “paid” game, doesn’t have rigged IAP in it. Of course, I’d be more than glad to be inccorect, because the game looks very intriguing. But, I just can’t see the creators of the billion dollar profit, “Farmville”, not nickel and diming their customers, on top of charging for what most likely should be a free game. I was stoked to buy “The Bard” too, but then after reading the reviews I found out that they had the nerve to charge for a freemium game as well. But on the bright side of things, there are still games out there, where if you give the developer some money, you actually get the entire game! I know, completely shocking! It’s like a special gift when you buy something, and actually get your monie’s worth out of the purchase, and not find out after being lied to in the game description, that certain features are withheld from you, and cost money. It’s sadly funny to me that so many brain-dead customers, can’t recall a time when they used to buy a game, and that was the extent of spending money, deal done, I pay you – you give me something that is relatively worth your asking price, deal done.

  • Artune

So glad I didn’t jump on Batman when it first released, Def getting it now.

    • John

Yep. The download is pretty hefty(1.8GB) but worth it.

    • JoshGroff

I was gonna pick it up after I got through Horn, but hey for a quarter, I’ll buy it now. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Iain Searcy

Picking up Nova and great big war. Recommend “Smart tools”

  • Katie Pollard

No mention for Haunted House HD? It’s one of the best live wallpapers. DualBoot Games is my favorite live wallpaper developer. They do real quality work.

    • SolipsisticPsychologist

“And we’ll be back, after more commercials like this! Stay tuned!!!”.
