Plague Inc. Making its Way to Android Next Week, Those Poor Humans Don’t Stand a Chance

While trying to ignore the really bad dialogue and the fact that he sounds like Batman with that raspy voice, this trailer paints a pretty good picture for Plague Inc. The game is currently available for iOS and has received quite a bit of hype as being a really good strategy/simulation game. You play as the virus/bacteria and your goal is to kill all humans by quickly infecting and spreading as fast as possible.

There are already games out like this, but Plague Inc. goes the extra mile by bringing a more in-depth story and better game graphics. It launches next week on October 4 for $0.99 in Google Play.

Why do all the horrible viruses and diseases supposedly come from Africa? Something to think about.

    • Sven Enterlein

Not necessarily true. Lots of emerging diseases originate from Asia. Big problem is zoonosis that is facilitated through long-term close and frequent contact of livestock with humans (e.g. pigs and fowl living next to each other and the farmers as well). But there’s also a genetic factor that impacts how diseases evolve. Africans are more susceptible to certain strains of HIV and HCV compared to Asia. On top of that you have a huge cultural impact of how diseases are spread. I recommend you go to the CDC (http://www.cdc.gov) or WHO (http://www.who.int) websites and read for yourself. I really liked Pandemic, even though I just played the 1st one. Once it’s in the Play Store, I’ll give it a try.

I have this game on my iPad. I read on red dit he was working on porting it over to android and admits he was inspired by pandemic.

Huh, so yeah…just like Pandemic on android and Kongregate already.
So why is this so special?

  • Buckoman

So, the devs stole the idea from Pandemic?

Seems pretty damn close to me.

When I saw this I thought the same thing. I remember playing Pandemic and Pandemic II years ago.

Very similar, probably a little too much so. But the atmosphere is different, the disease types force different styles of play, and the designer tried to add story-driven achievements (I guess that goes back to the atmosphere thing). The UI is a lot better, too. I’ve played it on the iPad and think it’s great.
