Contest: It’s National Cheeseburger Day – Tell Us Your Favorite Burger, Win a Nexus 7 8GB (Update: Winner Picked)

In case you didn’t know, today is National Cheeseburger Day. To someone like me, a self-proclaimed cheeseburger guru, this is one of the greatest “holidays” of the year, because it means that I’m on my way to gorging myself on the finest burgers that Portland has to offer. But being that I’m in the tech industry and travel quite often to cities across this beautiful country, I’m always on the hunt for the best burger in the next city that I visit. So in the most selfish of ways, I’m using the DL community to find out where your favorite burger spots are, so that if I end up visiting a town near you, I’ll have a list of spots to check out.

But to make it worth your while, I figured we’d give away a Nexus 7 8GB to one of the lucky readers that leaves a comment. Sound good?

Winner: We have our winner! His name is Mike Kilar and he showed us that you don’t have to go anywhere besides your very own kitchen to have a great cheeseburger. He has included a picture as well! Congrats, Mike! Thanks to the over 3000+ comments/entries we received. We’ll go to as many of these spots as possible!

Prize:  1 (one) Nexus 7 8GB tablet

How to enter:

1.  Tell me what your favorite burger is, from what town and restaurant, and why it was the best ever.
2.  Feel free to follow us on Google+, Twitter, and Facebook if you aren’t already.

We will choose a winner randomly tomorrow at 12:00PM PT. Good luck!

Redmill Burger Seattle, WA. They have been featured on Man vs. Food and in many magazines. They don’t make any kind of crazy hamburgers but the quality of their burgers is the best I’ve had. Their meat tastes amazing and it brings a tear to my eye every time I walk in because they have an enormous pile of bacon stacked up on their grill and it’s the first thing I always see.

  • John-Mark Clawson

  • Ok, so this summer we were traveling back home (Fort Worth, TX) from Gulf Shores, AL and on our way we stopped for lunch in Jackson, MS. My wife and I were craving burgers so I got on Yelp and found a place not too far off the interstate for us to check out. The place was called Stamps Superburgers! When we headed in the neighborhood we were curious about the “sketchy” area we were in. We went ahead and headed into this shack with no AC and not really anywhere to sit except for a bar type seating area. So me, my wife and my 2.5 yr old waltzed right in there and quickly realized this place doesnt see many white folks! ;o) Which to me meant we were in the right place, and we were in store for a great burger! Boy was I right, the Superburger was the biggest, greasiest and TASTIEST burger I have ever eaten. The joint has a great family history and we were fortunate enough to talk to two of the brothers that owned the place while we were there. They were the nicest people and this is the BEST burger I have ever eaten. If you’re ever in Jackson, MS go there. I promise you wont be sorry!!!

The best burger is in royal Oak, MI. The Red Coat Tavern.
When I grew up I measured my growth in how many quarters of the burger I could eat (my father cut it up into quarters).Angus beef, simple toppings, but just awesome, plain and simple.

Don’t forget the zip sauce! I almost feel like I could just drink the zip sauce. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

  • Lunchbox Laboratory in Seattle has the best burgers, hands down. Of special note is the “Dork”, a Duck/Pork burger. It sounds a little odd, but it’s honestly the best thing ever.

  • wheineman

The best burger is called the Churchill Burger, and it’s sold in Philadelphia at Pub and Kitchen! We did not become the fattest city in America eating healthy grass fed beef! NO! This is the king of burgers, and served alongside some of the best local craft brews money can buy! Why is it the best? I will let this image do the talking for me: http://www.uwishunu.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/pub-and-kitchen-churchill-burger-680uw.jpg

You have to try all three of these places if you make
it to Minneapolis/St Paul, MN area: 5-8 Club, Matt’s, and The Nook.
They all claim to be the originator of the Juicy Luicy.
It is a Burger stuffed on the inside with what seems to be an endless
amount of cheese. I have tried all 3 places and each version is unique. 5-8 and The Nook have various combinations
of different stuffed burgers and I have tried them all. The best I ever had
was a Chorizo PepperJack stuffed burger at The Nook (one of the
“Special” burgers that they have once a month).

  • Earl

The best burger I have had is from Big Jud’s in Boise, ID. Get the Jud special, it is a 1lb burger with all the toppings. Then you must add the pastrami to it, because anytime you use meat as a condiment for meat you hav a match made in heaven. Go there and get one now!

If you really wanna get deep in a cheeseburger the biggest and best has to be at Randy’s Restaurant in Trenton, GA. This big boy is 48oz’s or 3 pounds of the best Angus beef! You just gotta let them know your coming a day ahead of time so they can bake the bread for this thing. They make there own homemade buns for all of there hamburgers but you can imagine it takes a little longer for this guy. Of course you can get it anyway you want it but my favorite is cheese, onions, ketchup, and mustard.

  • My favorite burger is the Ranch House Burger from the Cheesecake Factory in Towson, Maryland. It was a huge burger but it was all about the toppings. Unfortunately they got rid of it from their menu about a year ago. It had three different types of cheese, bacon, a nice sautee of mushrooms and onions, and the best part… It had bits of steak on it! All topped with a garlic-ranch spread. I can’t tell you how sad I am that they got rid of it. 🙁

  • PhillipCun

I’ve tried many great burgers that claim the best in LA… Yeah sure Umami is famous and so is Father’s Office and even Westside Tavern’s burger are awesome.

But there’s one that made me fell in love with burgers all over again. It opened my eyes to what a real burger should be. And that burger is the Habenaro burger from Mick’s Karma Bar in Irvine, CA. It is ran by a very talented couple who takes pride in their tiny shop. I’m sure many haven’t heard of it, but its honestly the best burger me and my friends have ever had.
