$25 Google Play Credit With Nexus 7 Promo Ends September 30

Currently, if you buy a Nexus 7 from Google, you are treated to $25 of Google Play credit to spend as you please. Basically, you are paying less than $199 for the tablet, since you get a free $25 to drop on games, books, movies, etc. You better hurry if you want to get in on this promo though, as Google has pegged September 30 as the end date for it.

All lies, Just got mine today October 12th and still got $25. Google is just awesome :)

    • Danny Yamartino

Just got mine today Oct 14th and got a gift card as well…This thing is sooooooo much better than my old Xoom. I think I might actually use this one. Not sure if everyone is still getting the gift card but I was very surprised to see it. Thanks goog

Good luck getting he $25 credit. I have been trying to get my credit from Google for over 45 days now. I have sent them over 50 emails, and spoke with them on the phone numerous times. They are all a bunch of well trained liars. They make promises to help me receive my credit, but they do nothing. Buy the new Apple Mini IPad that’s coming out. I have sold my Google stock after getting no help from Corporate Headquarters. What a shame!

  • Jeff “Big Red”

Sounds like it is finally time to release the 10″ Nexus tablet? I couldn’t pass on that….

  • Ravi Rao

I know the article above strictly refers to the promotion for getting the $25 Google Play Credit, but the “use by” date is listed as expiring in 2013.

In California (as well as other states), there’s a law which prohibits the expiration of gift cards. I wonder if this applies to e-gift certificates such as the $25 play store credit.
    Cal. Civil Code §1749.5

    • Justin

This isn’t a gift card though – it’s a promotional credit. Chances are good that it can still expire since it’s not a gift card type product.

  • JB

Good thing my N7 is in the mail!

  • Kwparker80

Like someone else said.. You don’t have to buy the N7 from Google to get the credit! He(or she) and I both bought ours at Walmart and got the credit.

    • http://www.facebook.com/guzforster Gustavo G. Forster

Hi! How did you manage to redeem your credit? I bought mine on a physical Walmart store in Detroit. I was reading the conditions on Google Play help and apparently only devices bought on Play Store are eligible…

  • Raven

I am sure this is a dumb question, but I just want someone to confirm for me. Is this credit only if you buy a Nexus 7 from the Play store, or if I go out and buy another from Sam’s Club for $246 will I still get the credit up until the end of the month?

    • Spongehead

I bought mine at Wally World and it came with all the freebies, including the $25.00 credit.

  • TROLOLOL

God damn, people: Register a new Nexus 7 by the end of the month (September 30, 2012). You will have $25 in promotional credit that can be used in the Play Store until September 30, 2013.

Does flash work on the nexus tablet with jellybean? I watch a lot of sites that still need flash to play videos like most of the net, and my parents could probably use one and they watch a lot of vids too on the net. That’s why i was thinking an asus or xoom tablet that still has ICS on it.

  • jjgaucho

I love how I can’t combine my promo money with a credit card to complete a purchase larger than what I have left. So basically Google doesn’t want me to spend more money in their store than I currently have left to use from the promo. Awesome. Guess I won’t be getting a magazine subscription or a book.

  • kfath1978

So I was holding on to my $25 to put towards the N7 case available through google play at some point…hopefully by the 30th but if not music it is!

Didn’t think you could use the $25 promotional credit for hardware / cases… anyone care to confirm? Just FYI.

    • JB

You have until 9/30/2013 to use it.

  • SolipsisticPsychologist

Basically you are not paying less than $199, because the $25 isn’t a rebate or discount, it’s a gift card that has to be used in the Market, and it expires. Nice, though, trying to make it appear like something it isn’t.

    • http://twitter.com/Serotheo Simon Yu

It doesn’t expire the Credit, its the Promotion for free $25 when you activate the N7.

      • TROLOLOL

Redeemed balances that remain unused in your Google Play account will expire on
        September 30, 2013.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Norman-Cruz/584460456 Norman Cruz

does the credit have to be used by that date?

    • TROLOLOL

      Link for the lazy: http://play.google.com/intl/en_us/about/offer-terms.html
TL;DR – “Redeemed balances that remain unused in your Google Play account will expire on
      September 30, 2013.”

      • http://twitter.com/kilxler tony

Wrong! It expires on June 30th 2013. What this article is talking about is the Promotion to get $25 if you buy a Nexus 7 by September 30th. After that if you buy a Nexus 7 you won’t get the $25 promotion. TROLOLOL you back! LOL!!!!

        • Kevin McDole

Wrong! What he said was absolutely correct! So the jokes on you!

          • http://twitter.com/kilxler tony

            I was right Dork. LOL!!!

          • TROLOLOL

HOLY CRAP. DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND I was replying to Norman Cruz’s question, “does the credit have to be used by that date?”

Yes, you were correct in stating that the promotional $25 are for purchases for new Nexus 7 tablets before September 30th. BUT YOU LOOK LIKE FOOL BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T FOLLOW THE THREAD!!!

          • TROLOLOL

Where did you get June 30th from??? Did you even read Google’s Promotional Balance Terms?

          • Kevin McDole

            1. Open the link he posted
            2. Scroll to the bottom of the page
            3. Read what it says
            4. ????
            5. Oh look, you’re wrong!

        • TROLOLOL

tony, I was merely replying to Norman Cruz’s question

    • TheRPN

I don’t think so. The original email Google sent telling me about the $25 said “Value subject to expiration on 30 June 2013″. It was in small type at the bottom of the email.

  • EvanTheGamer

I think I still have like $12 left of my $25 Google Store Credit. Maybe the remainder will go towards The Bard’s Tale and Wild Blood when they get released later this year.

  • http://www.anglaispod.com/ bucketachicken

Just ordered mine yesterday (16 GB), good to know I’m in before the deadline!

    • EvanTheGamer

      Nice!

  • jonnywin

What’s next? How about the 16GB model for oh….$199. :)

(This is a hope, not a rumor.)

    • hkklife

Agreed. Assuming they have the build quality issues sorted out by now, it may be time to EOL the rather pointless 8Gb model, as the new 16Gb Fire HD has made the 8Gb N7 look a little weak. Move the 16Gb N7 SKU down to $199 or at least $220.

Bring out a 32Gb version at the $250 pricepoint. That’ll nicely undercut whatever Apple’s planning with an iPad Mini. Then, maybe to really pad everyone’s profit margins for the holidays, release a limited run of 64Gb versions with a higher-clocked Tegra3 and a bigger capacity battery for $299.
