i was going to get the razr maxx myself because the HD didnt seem like much of an upgrade and i could buy the razr maxx for second hand pretty cheap.
but then i read that the HD will have NFC so i think im going to hold out and get a HD, because i know in a few years i will only want to get a phone with NFC, so might as well do it now you know and try and keep a phone for a 2 years at least
but thats the only real big difference i think. the razr maxx still seems miles ahead of most other phones

i already own a Razr Droid Maxx, I am wondering what would be the benefits of upgrading. It appears that the OG Razr Droid Maxx is supposedly getting 4.1 soon.?? The internals seem better, but not that much. I live the battery life of mine now and really see no obvious reason to plunk down the bucks or extend my contract and loose unlimited data with Big Red.

Diablo81588: I had the same problem popup recently. Try turning the plug around and see if the phone then charges. Worked for me everytime.

It’s not a connection problem. I think the magnets in the dock trigger the bedside clock function which tells it it’s ok to charge. If I play with the magnets, I can get that without the dock. Just plugging it directly into the USB doesn’t trigger a response half the time. At any rate, if I’m turning in this phone, it won’t be for another one. I’m going up. Either the new Moto or a Nexus.

I said it would be October 2 months ago on about 5 different blogs. Moto is taking their time and now my eyes are possibly on the LG Optimus G. Either a 1.5 or 1.7 quad core processor, 13 MP camera, only phone to run on Verizons LTE +/Advanced network, – or – a phone with a huge battery and crappy camera. Hmmmm, I might now be leaning away from Moto and going with the LG.

Sounds to me like a connection problem.A dock will hold it more securely and at the right angle. In any case, I don’t think Verizon would deny you warranty for a charging problem just because you’re rooted.

It’s stock rooted, so no warranty for me. It’s a fairly recent thing that started, maybe after one of the updates, that I can’t seem to fix. The only sure fire way it’ll charge is if I put it in its dock. For some reason, plugging it into USB only works half the time. I’ve tried searching for answers on forums, but apparently I’m the only one with this anomoly.

The Razr Maxx HDis defiantly worth it, I’m waiting for it also.
I just hope they set the release date for October with the Razr HD. It would make sense wouldn’t it?

Well, prior to today, I honestly thought VZW and Moto would kinda honor the release date anniversary (11/06/09) of the OG and release the HD and Maxx on that same day (or close to it) in 2012.

As long as it’s a few weeks prior to Black Friday, Moto will still get a fair amount of guaranteed pre-holiday sales. And my local VZW store has RAZR M signage everywhere, so I think they are gonna push these new RAZRs hard this fall. But I just think Moto lost sooo much valuable time and consumer mindshare by delaying the RAZR M and HD for so long. If they’d launched in June-July, they’d have been the hottest phones of the summer. Now they have to contend with the iPhone 5, the Note 2, and whatever HTC’s cooking up in 1080p.

Unless you have the $ to burn on a full retail purchase or have a line to upgrade and aren’t grandfathered into unlimited, I’d try to hold off a while longer.

Sometimes I still regret dumping my Bionic for a GS3.

In its favor, the Bionic SHOULD get its OTA ICS soon and that makes it a still-formidable device (don’t forget that many get bumped up to 1.2Ghz with ICS). Add to that an extended battery or two and a nice big microSDHC card and you still have a solid device that can hold you over until Moto makes a 5″ device or a new Nexus or has a quad-core or 1080p device or something. The Bionic will also be able to run Webtop 3.0 under ICS which is something no new Moto phone will have.

Considering the screen space used up by the virtual buttons and the HD’s screen will effectively only be .2″ or so larger than the Bionic’s. I am sure the HD will continue the tradition of lousy Moto cameras, so there probably won’t be a huge improvement there. It is a lot faster, sleeker, slimmer, better built and will offer better screen resolution and JB, so if you have the $ by all means go for it!
