Here is the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 for Verizon, Carrier Branded Home Button Included

You are looking at the first images of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 that is headed to Verizon. Yep, it looks exactly like the international Galaxy Note 2 that we played with earlier this week, but that is to be expected. After Samsung released the Galaxy S3 in one form factor across the globe, we sort of figured they would do the same with the new Note.

Well, there is one difference from the international version, and that would be the carrier branding we are seeing on the back and…wait for it…on the physical home button. As you can see pictured below, Verizon has decided that the physical home button is the perfect spot for their name to be blasted across. I’m actually a little speechless on this one. I can only hope that this is some test unit and that retail units won’t have a “Verizon” home button, but that would probably be silly of me.

I guess the giant “Verizon 4G LTE” on the back of a 5.5″ device just wasn’t enough. Now, every time you press “Home” you get a reminder of who your daddy is.

What do you think? Will the Verizon logo make retail units?

Cheers Sean!

  • Offensive doesn’t even begin to describe my reaction to that mess. I hate carrier branding, period. I’m paying for the phone (even if I opt for the on-contract “discount”), and I pay for service. I never understood why I should be forced to have carrier branding on my device. It’s not different than when I buy a car. New or used, I always insist (read: demand) that the dealer remove any dealer branding. They got my money when I bought the car. Unless the folks dealership are going to pay me to drive the car around to advertise for them, they need to take their name of my car.

What’s yours say? MetroPCS? You can’t look like a boss if you’re using your iPhone flashed to cricket or metro…

      • My phone, an Incredible 2, says Verizon and I hate it.

    • note_lover

Can’t believe people are actually complaining! ;( just put a cover on the back and get over it!

      • First of all…to each their own. Secondly, you can’t put a cover over the home button. Well…I guess you could, but how ugly would that be?

  • Can you please post some specs on this bute? Quad core and 2 GB ram?

  • If that makes the shelves, it’s definitely not going to make my pocket.

  • corymcnutt

What worries me is what is the nonsense to the left and right of button? Looks like some kind of writing.

    • Ron_Swanson

      Its a tester device genius.

  • corymcnutt

People, people…We were whining because Verzon wasn’t going to carry the Note 2, now we’re whining because of a little branding! EVERY carrier brands their phones so I don’t know why you are surprised; in fact, I’d rather have it on the button than on the body of the phone. My main concern is that it will start to wear off and look half-ass.

    • THANK YOU. Jeez, you’d think VZW committed genocide. Yeah I can see it being a pain, but not buying a phone for that singular reason is beyond petty. Come on guys, we’re better than this.

    • note_lover

Some people you just can’t satisfy smh. Just be happy it’s even rumored to be on the Verizon network.

    • Bryan

No doubt!! A bunch of whining baby. Can’t never be satisfied.. Put a phone cover over it and quit crying! Thank you Verizon for bringing it over to you..

  • JayBeeZee

They are still rocking Windows XP.

    • KOBALT

I thought I was the only one that noticed. Lol. The computers at my work are upgrading from Win2K.

  • PuzzleShot

Surely someone will ask “which one’s the home button? I just see a Verizon button.”

  • Mo

Go get a at&t phone if you dont want it or quit crying. i am just happy verzon finally got it.

  • fixxmyhead

OMFG are u serious. what is it with verizon putting there logo on every phone except the nexus which is on the back

    • Jackson

      And the S3

  • Matt Gondek

I’m not up for an upgrade for awhile, and it would be tough to get me to go non-Nexus, but I would love to go in a VZW store and ask “why” to the rep, just to see what kind of answer Big Red feeds them for that placement

  • Answer2K1

If that Home button were real, how visible would the logo be on different colored Note II’s?

  • ScottyfromGA

little bit of laquer thinner will strip that right off if you apply small pressure….

  • Zach Armstrong

The Verizon home button is really bad looking it better not look like when its released.

  • Jackson

Maybe this is there way of testing if people will literally burn Verizon stores lol

  • jbzcar

Would have been nice to credit the source of these images, wouldn’t it?

  • johnc7995

There is a plastic film clearly still on the device. There is no Verizon branded home button.

    • Jason James

      good catch!

    • turb0wned

And if you take a closer look you will see that the plastic film clearly has a cutout around the home button.

  • Trevor

I really hope this is just a prototype device kind of thing. That is a horrid place to stick their logo.

  • That will be scratched off !!

  • Hnt

Someone on Ebay will find a way to sell a cap or sticker to cover that logo. No problem now just give me a release date.

  • Mustang5Oh

    Verizon ruins yet ANOTHER device!

  • Damu793

I will get this phone on day1!

    • Paul

      I’m lining up right now!

  • HBD

    LS2 represent

  • moelsen8

  • Fredy Nativi

the question everybody needs to ask is what about the bootloader? ? ?

  • Captain_Doug

    Verizon, you’re a douche.

  • tomgillotti

Gorgeous. Wish this were a Nexus!!

  • Abhijeet Mishra

“Now, every time you press “Home” you get a reminder of who your daddy is.”

And it was not the customer, but the carrier who won again. And then the land of the USA was plunged in darkness. Kthxbey.

  • James_C_L

That’s gotta be the stupidest fu*king thing I’ve ever seen.

  • jnmigr

I don’t care just bring it.

  • If it’s inked on, just take a sugar cube to it.

    • sugar cube?

      • Yes, you can rub off the inked on logos with a sugar cube.

        • evltwn

Don’t think I’d try it with this phone. Bound to get sugar into the phone by the button. Plus heard it doesn’t work so well on plastic.

  • Just when you think the home button can’t get any worse.

  • wonderer

I wonder if the phone works differently if a logo is there? NO!

  • that button has to be a joke!!!

  • gokusimpson

I think it’s a sticker…looks a little crooked. But if it’s not I don’t think the sugarcube trick would work on it.

  • josh persaud

    so happy i have a galaxy s III now…

  • wow, if that is there i am not getting this phone, unless somehow you can get that off of there. This is where branding has gone too far.

    • balthuszar

no…branding has gone too far when it takes away the functionality of the phone…this is just a minor blip on the phone…if the phone is awesome, and you don’t buy it because of a simple branding on the small section of the phone…you need to go back to feature phones…or maybe you should be tethered to the wall with a landline instead of having a cell phone…you’ve got some growing up to do

  • Darius Spencer

How I know this is fake; They are running internet explorer XD

    • Darius Spencer

      Sorry, that’s firefox..carry on..

      • Interestingly enough, Verizon lit 4G in Austin, TX today. Maybe the picture was taken before it went live. :-/

        • yup

9/12/12. Check the weather widget in the pick

          • Good eye. Clearly doctored. The big date doesn’t match the weather widget date. So many fakes overlook small details.

  • Landshark535

It doesn’t look like it fits there naturally at all. I wonder/ hope it is just a decal.

  • fartbubbler

hopefully it wears off with much use

  • Epcrix

Yeah I considered getting a Note, but maybe I’ll just wait until the next nexus..

    • Absolutely. I mean, the note2 is great and all. I could not stand pushing a button that had the logo of the company I get my cell phone on. That is unacceptable.!

      …yeah right.

  • Shawn

  • Noooooooooo.

  • triangle8

Easily solve the Verizon logo on the front with an after market sticker. Those would be really popular.

  • Colin Zack

That has to be the worst looking thing I’ve ever seen.

  • aNYthing6

    You gotta be kidding me.

  • Gel

That Verizon on the home button better not be there when it comes out.

  • rodney11ride

Lol I knew they could let a phone not have it…

  • I hope that’s a sticker.

    • sciwizam

I still wonder how Samsung pulled wool over Verizon’s eyes for the GS3

      • GTHVerizon

If Verizon wants to put advertising on our phones, they should at least compensate us for it

        • Jeff Smith

What about the car company. They got logos on the front, back, rims, steering wheel. And no one say a word. Two Verizon logos, and every one is screaming..lol

    • Turbine Tech

It looks like a sticker. It appears to be crooked and from what I can tell I think I see a faint outline of clear plastic around the button. One can only hope, because that is fugly…

    • FarmerTechno

If not, there will surely be stickers available to cover it.

      • majormudafuckinhun

or a case which is always the case for me…

    • Mike_Cook7

I hope so as well that is gross…

    • radiohead14

      knowing verizon… it is not.

    • Allow me to add a slight modification to your statement. I hope that’s a [removable] sticker.

      • hulslanderam

It’s removable but it voids your warranty.

    • Jarren

You are awesome! … Anxiously awaiting your review

  • Its obviously not going to ship like that, and its probably just a sticker. Lets be real.

    • Locombiano

With all due respect, you seem to be underestimating Verizons ability to piss on their customers over and over again… 😉

    • Let’s hope so, but I don’t put anything past VZW. The ever-increasing amount of bloatware should be a clue.
