Monday Poll: How Many Apps are Installed on Your Phone?

We ran a similar poll to this back in February, but we have seen a number of high-quality apps hit the Play Store over the last couple of months and wanted to ask again. With internal storage space growing on phones and expandable storage inclusion depending on the manufacturer, we are wondering how some of you app hogs are dealing and managing space? Are you having to limit the number because apps are growing in size or are you finding it difficult to fill up? What percentage of those 50+ apps do you use on a regular basis? Anything new that you would recommend we all check out? Tell us your app life story.

You guys should expand the the number of choices next time to try and get a bell curve!

  • Mario Mendez

I have as many apps on my Droid X as there is days in a year – 365

  • Kamil Zabiegała

I have 244 apps installed at the moment.

  • http://twitter.com/HufflepuffBR Fábio Emilio Costa

64 on my LG Optimus Hub (59 from Store plus Tubemate, Osmos, Edge, Spirits and HumbleBundle Manager), 39 on my old Samsung Galaxy 5 (38 from Store plus Tubemate), 98 on my Allwinner GT-I9170 (Genesis Tab GT-7200 – 93 from Market + Tubemate, Humbel Bundle Manager, Fieldrunners, Anomaly and World of Goo). Total 201 apps

  • JazzoRenee

I have 200, but that’s over 2 years and having 2 Android devices, probably the same amount on my ipod touch.

  • http://www.facebook.com/andi54 Andrew Hope

Go Launcher’s vertical continuously looping app drawer bloody essential!

    • http://twitter.com/HufflepuffBR Fábio Emilio Costa

      And HoloLauncher’s!

    • Raven

I use that too, but Folder Organizer is what I consider essential. I rarely ever even go into my App Drawer any more.

  • http://www.facebook.com/andi54 Andrew Hope

Well I’ve got 251 downloaded apps on my S3, I have many more linked to my Google Account, but these are the essentials, ha-ha-ha!

  • bassmaster118

200 even. Probably only use 10 to 15 on a daily basis.

  • http://www.KamilGPhotography.com/ KamilG

    142. I used to have around 80 on my first Android phone, the HTC Desire, but I am slowly gaining apps as the storage increases. I use about 15-20 on a daily basis and have to force myself to play around with the others lol Although I have noticed that on occasion, I’m looking for an app that I have previously uninstalled, and I get upset. So very upset.

  • Tyler

What phone is that? Touchwiz and sense don’t look like that and the battery on a nexus is blue.

    • Jason James

I’m guessing HTC but he’s using nova launcher that’s what I use since I hate horizontal app drawer

Dude to being a Flash-aholic on my GNex, I keep my Apps down to a minimum as I hate waiting for all my apps to get re installed.. In only restore ~10-15 core apps that I know I will use everyday (Wells Fargo, Tapatalk, Facebook, Instagram, Calculator, Rom Toolbox, Spotify, Strava, and a few more). When you flash Roms 2-3 times a week, I got tired of having to re -nstall hundreds of apps. I realized I only used under 20 Apps 98% of the time.

    • KleenDroid

Wow I hear ya. Many of the Jellybean ROMs don’t even restore so you have to do it yourself. It can be a pain when flashing like crazy like we all do… :)

Thank goodness for apps like Titanium and appextractor.

  • Justin

I’m currently at 96, but I’ve easily been in the 100-150 category with my Bionic. I’ve got more usable apps on my N7, as it doesn’t have the bloatware, but more apps on my Bionic.

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

    100 MILLION DOLLARS!!! . . . . . oh… Apps…. let me go count

  • shehippie

178 on my Maxx, I would hate to count whats on my Rezound and Gnex. I think I may have an app addiction :p

  • Finire

1-25, but forget about the massive amount of apps that I have installed on my tablet. I don’t leave that thing for a second.

  • Matthew Merrick

106 apps in my app drawer in my phone, and thats not counting apps ive hidden from the drawer. 118 on my tab, same deal.

  • Alan Paone

Between 5 and 6 pages 100 to 120 apps, depending on how recently I’ve flashed a ROM. I redownload them as I need them so I use all my apps all the time!

  • boywizzer_thegreat

    177 apps…32GB Gnex…

  • johnc7995

I only install what I use on a regular basis.

  • http://twitter.com/annduhroo Andrew LeMasters

I have 676 on my phone… I use most, ignore the bloat, and freeze the annoying ones until I need them. Hard to fill a 32, +64, GB Samsung Galaxy S III….

    • KleenDroid

Ha… but it looks like you are trying… :)

  • MainMan

Gee Jed, I have a gdillion apps on my phone. How many do you have? ain’t this cool? I think i have more.

  • http://twitter.com/DL_Chinoskii DL_Chinoskii

    Catch all 150 apps
    gotta catch them all!!

  • John

93 and I use 90% of them consistently

  • Brent Cooper

210 apps on my maxx. I am definitely in favor of more storage on phones. One thing I am jealous of on the i*hone is 64gb of internal storage. I don’t like micro sd for storage but unfortunately have to use it. Its nice to still have for transferring things tho…just not storage of apps and games. Id like to see a 64 gb android with Amazons WhisperSync for games and apps, home-screen set up, ect, for use of getting a new or replacement phone or doing a factory data reset. This would be my perfect idea for storage.

  • nightscout13

hmm, i guess at 90 apps i probably have too many LOL

  • Knlegend1

The better android gets the less apps I have installed. The irony is that on my newer devices I have a hell of lot more space than say my D1. On that phone I tried to install everything lol.

  • Doan

43 downloaded apps. 3 pages total + 1 app on the 4th page on a CM10’ed VZW GSIII. I use 46.61% of my total downloaded apps regularly.

I have a handful of apps that I keep because I do use them every now and then, so I keep them on hand for convenience: Barcode scanner, 4 or 5 games that I play when I’m stuck somewhere without anything to do, Google Drive, Google Maps, Pandora, Splashtop Remote, Wikipedia, Sound Hound, etc.

  • Speedyrulz8

227 here, which are all ones I’ve downloaded, and that’s after uninstalling the ones I never use.

  • buckazui

Wow you guys are crazy! i only have 32 that includes everything even phone and browser ect. im on a gnex running liquid rom ics at the moment. i wonder if im alone in my ocd deleting of unused apps lol. my nexus 7 tab has 44 s0 maybe having two devices lowers my #s since i have like no games on my phone.

  • http://twitter.com/NovembersDirge The Observer

139 apps and counting on my GNex.

  • Slakker

I have 130 market apps bot including the good ones that Come on the phone. I don’t even want to try to count the total download history. There needs to be a way to clear that out

  • http://www.facebook.com/hookahlogic Mike Waldon

from what it looks like compared to some others i’m a minimalist with only 36 additional apps not counting the bloatware

  • Chris Hollenbeck

    I need an app intervention….

    • wm snyder

      Just say no!

    • wm snyder

Remember the frying pan picture your phone in the pan….. This is your phone…. OD on Apps!

  • rda990

I just ran a script to check and I have 604 total apps, 213 system and 391 downloaded apps. It’s gotten to the point where I have “insufficient” space on my Razr when trying to install new market apps. Out of all of them I only use about 5 downloaded apps on a regular basis, but when I go to find any apps to uninstall I don’t pick any because I knoe eventually (whether it’s in a week, month, or months) use it, and would rather have it on my phone than to go look for it each time and download it. It’s a real pain in the A……

    • https://www.facebook.com/aaron.williams.125 Champion1229

Same problem! Do you have the 16GB or 32GB Razr?

      • http://www.facebook.com/jdenman03 Jared Denman

??? The only difference when they sold those was the SD card.

        • https://www.facebook.com/aaron.williams.125 Champion1229

I don’t think so, I got mine as a CLN replacement from Verizon and the rep on the phone never said what model they were sending and since I had the Rezound with its vast amount of storage I figured it would be the 32GB model but when I got the phone it had no SD card in it already and internal is only 16GB. HOWEVER, on MyVerizon it shows the phone as being the 32GB model? Its not a big deal now because I got a 32GB SD card that was leftover from my TBolt but still, their systems say one thing and the phone says another.

      • rda990

I currently have a 32 GB SD card in, but that doesn’t matter since I don’t use App2SD

    • C-Law

You might just be a hoarder

  • Max Wainer

I thought I had maybe 25 apps. Once I got past 70 (didn’t count the ones that came with the phone) I gave up. So, yeah, 76-100…

  • Paradisimo

    213. No wonder Titanium Backup takes forever to batch save/restore.

  • http://twitter.com/bananagram597 Tom Miller

I have zero… I’m stuck with a feature phone until later this Fall. My contract has been up since July but I’m waiting to see what new offerings we’ll have this fall WP8 and Android-wise. I’m really looking forward to seeing what becomes available phablet and Nexus wise!

    • https://www.facebook.com/aaron.williams.125 Champion1229

I’m interested in Nexus and whatever is the sucessor to the SGS3, that might just make me ditch the Razr for something a little more this year lol

  • EvanTheGamer

Other: Galaxy Nexus had over 150 apps installed…until it was wiped cleaned ’cause its owner wanted a new ROM!

  • guilledmartin

    140 apps. I didn’t think I had so many. On a regular basis I think I use around 10.

  • Captain_Doug

I have 75-ish from the google play store and another 5-10 from other app markets.

    • Captain_Doug

If we’re including system apps, then 185.

      • Diablo81588

I wouldn’t think system apps count.. Lol

        • http://twitter.com/HufflepuffBR Fábio Emilio Costa

I’m counting by Play Store account (that include some sysapps) and the ones I know I sideloaded (like Humble Bundle games)

          • Captain_Doug

That was my first count but I’m pretty sure others threw out their total apps numbers. Didn’t want to be different. ;D

  • coolsilver

It varies. I’ve hit over 400 user and system apps combined before. Even more a reason to allow us to delete apps in Play Store history.

    • Matthew

For the love of god yes

    • Brent Cooper

      This would be awesome!

    • bassmaster118

I agree, Google should let us delete apps from Play Store history

      • michael arazan

Need to delete the apps “all” section. I can’t even count the amount of apps I have downloaded from the past, it took 34 swipes just to get to the bottonof the list. Imagine how many will be in the “all” section after 10 years, let alone 2 years. weird that apps not in the market still show up in it there like music junk a free music download before play music, and others. Need to replace it with a “save for later” section.

        • drboyd

The worst part is that the first apps you installed are at the bottom. I have to scroll through countless pages of apps I’ve tried out just to find key apps like facebook, pandora, etc.

      • Erin Looney

        +1

    • Bootleg Zani

Well I have 250 apps installed on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. I wonder how
many total apps I have between Google Play / Amazon App Store and
      Humble Bundle apps.

    • Raven

According to Titanium Backup I currently have 598 user apps and 777 total apps on my Droid 2. I still have 3.2GB free of my 6.5GB internal storage and 12.5GB free of my 29.2GB external storage. There is something to be said for older Android where app2sd still works as intended.

I use Folder Organizer to keep all of my apps sorted and easily accessible with no hunting around in the app drawer. I would say that I use at least a quarter of my apps on a regular basis and the rest are there when needed. Here are some of the breakdowns from my folders: General Apps 108, Internet 78, Multimedia 53, Tools 102, Root 20, Games 149. I have some more specific folders, but I won’t bore you with any more.

It really surprises me how low the numbers on the poll are. I think some people spend more time flashing their phones than actually using them.
