HBO GO for Android Updated With Jelly Bean Support and Bug Fixes (Update)

Well, not that this is the best timing ever seeing as how True Blood season five just ended, but better late than never I guess. HBO GO for Android has been updated to support Jelly Bean devices in Google Play. Once installed, you’ll be watching your favorite HBO movies and Eastbound and Down in no time.

Update: Well, HBO has removed the Jelly Bean support line from the changelog in Google Play so maybe we’re back to waiting. We’ll keep you posted.

Cheers Chavez6!

  • KingSpeedy

Downloaded just fine on my Verizon GNex with AOKP Build 1

  • Presb4

UPDATE. It works now for all 4.1 devices. Just go in and clear your play store app data first then it will allow you to download it like it should. Its working fine on my GNexus running CM10 and Nexus 7.

  • Tom J

Works on Liquid Smooth beta2 but you do get a message that pops up and says you need to clear data for the app and it then closes but if I just launch HBO again it works just fine.

  • eddy

just downloaded it on my Nexus 7, it works great!!!

  • Paul

Does anybody have the most recent verizon login client apk. I have yet to find one that works after the last one stopped working on my VZW GNEX

  • WinDroidGuy

Here is the apk and works fine on my JB devices http://db.tt/iBzNSh9V

  • EvanTheGamer

OH! Looks like HBO GO now supports the G-Nex along with the Nexus 7! HELL YEAH!

This app is compatible with all of your devices.

  • psychotic_ penguin

Downloaded from Web Store works just fine along with Max Go on my Nexus running CNA

  • sgtguthrie

Max Go is still a no go though…

  • sgtguthrie

Market says jb support again, and you can install it on Nexus 7 from there now 😉 I just did it…

    • Dan-O

you can install i on a galaxy nexus. just can’t register a verion account without it crashing.

  • sgtguthrie

I just side loaded it, and it worked well on my Nexus 7. Max Go on the other hand, doesn’t work still and just force closes.

  • Kevin Cecil

FYI I am running bugless beast JB and said app not compatible in play store on phone but went to play store on comp and chose my phone to install to from comp and it installed both HBO GO and MAX GO working perfect.

  • EvanTheGamer

For those that don’t like True Blood…well, you don’t know what you’re missing. And that’s all I gotta say about that.

Also, The Newsroom is actually quite the fantastic series! Can’t wait for season 2!

  • Jason K

Downloaded through Play website on rooted G-Nex running Bugless Beast 4.1. Works fine for me.

  • It now shows that it can be installed on all my devices 🙂

  • its working in the play store now.

  • RL

  • Play store just updated! Go get it NOW ver. 1.7.1

  • those who are sideloading it. can you upload to a Dropbox and link it to us?

  • Bigsike

    MAXGO updated too.

  • MSlab

it does work with JB. i just updated the app on my Transfromer TF101, backed up the app in Astro, uploaded the .apk to Google Drive, installed it on my G-Nex (running the latest AOKP nightly) and it works perfect.

  • So…who’s got the apk?

  • Inquizitor

Why has no one posted the apk?

    • RadicalPie

I know I’ve been looking for it everywhere

  • Lawrence_Hart

GNex AOKP build 1 doesn’t work.

  • Won’t work on the Galaxy Nexus with a custom ROM. Epic FAIL!

  • ddevito

Someone on ICS please post the apk!!!!

  • still no go on my Gnex running BB rom, or my Fire running CM10

  • MikeSaver

Finally, now all I need is EA to update NBA JAm.

  • Inquizitor

  • nerdkill

well that was a let down 🙁

  • Riseonfire

Who cares about True Blood. You meant to say The Newsroom right?

Edit: Oh and it still doesn’t work with JellyBean.

    • Inquizitor

You mean Sorkin’s Soapbox? Who cares. You meant to say Curb Your Enthusiasm, right?

      • Jroc869, Cool story bro

Damn this is so right. I tried so hard to see past the agenda because deep down it is a good show, but it didn’t work.

        • Inquizitor

I know, I know. There are redeeming qualities, just not enough.

    • michael arazan

I’m a real time with Bill Maher fan, the only reason I have hbo.

  • Tim Swann

    LIKE 100x

  • RCCola85

FINA….wait. *Incompatible with both of your devices (Nexus 7 & Galaxy Nexus)*

  • impulse630

It does work on the Nexus 7. I just updated it on my Rezound and side-loaded it onto my Nexus 7 and it works. I’m guessing that they forgot to update the compatible-devices list in the Play Store or something…

  • ddevito

Still not compatible with the N7.

HBO (this along with this season’s True Blood) gets a Gas Face

    • stush0104

Go on to Google Play and install from there. Everything works.

      • stush0104

I should say, go on to Google Play on your computer and install that way.

  • impulse630

It does work on the Nexus 7. I just side-loaded it after updating on my Rezound. I’m guessing they forgot to update something in the Play Store to say it’s ok for the Nexus…

  • bigfire

Nope. Not on my Nexus 7, nor Jellybean Galaxy Nexus. Surprisingly enough, the app still works on my jellybean Xoom.

  • Boooo, no Nexus 7 or Jelly Bean support.

  • Dan

as if true blood was any good, Curb is where it’s at

  • PS GNex

Tried to install on my Verizon GNex and got the dreaded “not compatible with your device” error…..

    • PS GNex

Had an old version installed that was not compatible with JB. Just got an update notification, after update it is working great!

  • Hmm still not compatible with my GNex running AOKP.

  • Not compatible with my Nexus 7, and from what I’m seeing in the comments so far, it’s not compatible with the Xoom running JB either. Considering there are only two more devices that have official Jellybean releases (Galaxy Nexus and the TF300), I wonder why HBO would tout JB compatibility.

EDIT: Under What’s New in Google Play: “What’s in this version:
    – Now including support for Jelly Bean”

    Under requirements: “REQUIRES ANDROID:
    2.1 – 4.0.3”

Maybe they just need to flip a switch or something.

  • Jroc869, Cool story bro

    Finally sheesh!

  • No it isn’t compatible with Jelly Bean yet!

  • still says not compatible for me

  • EvanTheGamer

    EDIT: Arrrrrrrg…I spoke too soon:

This app is incompatible with all of your devices.

Well….I’ll be the first to say it……it’s about damn time, HBO, it’s about damn time!<

  • Jon Wolff

not showing up for my legitimate or my illegitimate jelly bean devices.
