That’s probably why it has android for the market, that way the owner has an infinite amount of camera editing apps and sharing at their disposal without the company needing to develop a bunch of their own software. Plus it would instant upload being near a wifi or having a car with wifi.

It’s rumored to have Google Play, so use whatever camera, editing, or sharing app you want! Think of all the great camera apps and then think how much better they’ll be with a full blown camera.

It would be in their best interest to include a headphone jack. Then they can sell it as a camera that can also double as an MP3 player or personal media device.

Some earlier Nikon P-series cameras do have built in WiFi and GPS, as well as microphone and basic speaker (for video playback). Have to assume those features will be built in to this camera as well.

I think Android does make some sense, so you can have photo editing and photo sharing apps built in to your camera. Even being able to email a photo directly from your camera would be great for those times when you want better photo quality than your cell phone camera can give you.

You don’t need to make calls from your camera (who makes call anymore anyway). You also don’t need a data plan, just WiFi tether your camera to your smartphone.

Actually, I would think WiFi and Bluetooth would sort of be the point so I am sure they will be included. Many cameras already have gyros, my ancient Canon PowerShot S80 did. Any camera that can shoot video will have a mic and a speaker. And like you said, GPS for geotagging is now all the rage, so they will probably throw that in as well. The only issue I see is whether or not they can produce a fast and stable camera app. If the camera app on my camera ever force closed and I missed an important shot, that would be the end of it.

It’s an awesome idea.instead of a phone that has a bad camera….make a good camera that can be a decent phone.

The thing is, even if it has stock Android it would be a joke.

The thing likely won’t have bluetooth, gyrometer, a speaker, a microphone, and I would imagine wouldn’t have GPS (though I could see Nikon wanting to keep that for geotagging). This would limit the available apps significantly.

But as a solid way to connect to the internet and know there will be regular updates, I say not a terrible way to do it.

But whenever you upload a photo into facebook and other apps, its never at full resolution, so then whats the purpose of having high resolution camera? A phone can accomplish these tasks sufficiently, without the need of carrying and charging a separate device.

The idea is you can get whatever app you need from the Google Play Store, whether it be a camera app like instagram, a sharing app like Facebook, or a blogging app like WordPress (so your camera covers all points for the photos)

The camera in your picture is not the P7700, it’s the S800c. The P7700 is the P7100 replacement and is their advanced compact.

It wouldn’t need a skin, just a different camera app. Maybe they’ll ad in a nice image editor app as well.

This is done all wrong, I don’t remember the article I read but it was from one of the Android sites, anyway they shouldn’t be using it as a camera simply running Android it should be a Camera UI built with Android as the backbone, afterall this isn’t a smartphone you’ll be carrying everywhere with you.
