Order a 16GB Nexus 7 From Staples and Save $15 Plus Free Shipping

Ten minutes ago, I got all excited over the fact that if you order(ed) a Nexus 7 16GB from Staples today, you could save $15 off using a special coupon code, but also get free shipping since you would be spending over $45. Unfortunately, as I was in the middle of writing this, I noticed that they appear to have gone from “In Stock” to “Out of Stock” in minutes. I would assume that they will replenish stock of the device before too long, so I still thought I would share. Who knows, they could get another shipment in before the weekend is over and this code may continue to be valid. If you have yet to pick up an N7, you may want to jot this one down and continue to check back.

Buy.  (Coupon code: 99618)

Cheers Chris!

WARNING – DO NOT BUY NEXUS 7 through Google directly!!! My order from 7/30 fell into the black hole. Still have not recieved the product as of 8/20. Called Customer service 5 times and emailed Google (no response). 3rd time I called they recommended canceling the order because it seemed like it was “stuck”, but the system wouldn’t let me cancel. 4th time I called (4 days ago), they were going to send it to another department to get the cancelation pushed through. Still no confirmation. Called tonight, and finally spoke to a supervisor. He said it was impossible to cancel the order and told me the other guy must have given me bad information… this supervisor was VERY RUDE and defensive with me. He could not give me any answers on when I could expect a delivery. Asked for a shipping refund and he said they were not authorized to do that. Should have ordered through Staples!!! Guess I could call my credit card company and stop payment… what a pain!

They’re back in stock, but the coupon code dosen’t work anymore.

If you go to the store they can order one for you at the service counter. Ordered mine yesterday, supposed to be delivered to the store for pickup today… we will see.

Dang bought mine at Walmart but o well its worth every penny

Its not going to be in stock until August 31st. I checked a couple of Staples. Ended up purchasing from Google

I work at staples and we have both models. If the coupon doesn’t specify online only use, then you can use it in store.

Be careful getting a Nexus 7 through Staples …

I got two different 16GB Tablets that both had a defective speaker, one as a replacement for the other. I waited a week after getting the second, to see if any more stores got stock in, and none did. All of the local stores refused to work with me, by taking my information and holding a replacement unit for me; and at that time, the corporate customer service folks could not do anything to help either. I ended up having to just return the second defective unit, and get my money back – which was it’s own hassle, because the manager at the store tried to tell me I had to take a gift card for the purchase amount …

i didn’t want to, but I had to get a little loud and testy in the store, calling corporate customer service while taking up one of their registers and making somewhat of a scene. Suffice it to say, after just a few moments of my talking loudly on the phone, the manager suddenly realized he COULD return the money to my credit card after all!

Clearly, my situation was unique, but the reality is that I had an absolutely terrible time, getting my Nexus 7 at retail in general and Staples in particular. Until stores are legitimately carrying sufficient stock for replacements/exchanges, I highly recommend sticking with the Google Play store. Sure, I ended up paying for shipping when the original tablet from Staples did not include that cost; but, the new tablet from Google came in 3 days and has been perfect!

I was able to put the coupon on an 8GB Nexus 7. Typically, the 8GB version are only available in stores, not online (and guess what, the stores don’t accept the coupon… the scanning system will not allow it).

Here’s how you can do it. Go to the store. Find the little kiosk computer where you can order things online from Staples.com. Search “Nexus” and find the 8GB Nexus 7. From a non-Staples computer it says “In store only special order”, but while in the store on the Staples computer, you can add to cart directly from the search page. (Note: If you actually view the details, it doesn’t let you add to cart. You must add it from the search page.) Then add the coupon (Coupon code 99618). Then checkout, using your credit card number at the kiosk (if you try and print the order and pay at the cashier, it kicks your coupon out again).

Ta-da! You’ve placed an order for an 8GB Nexus 7 plus $15 off plus free shipping… plus applicable tax 🙁

Forgot to mention play store credit…

*8GB Nexus 7 plus $15 off, plus $25 Play store credit, plus free shipping… plus applicable tax 🙁

Plus Transformers Dark of the Moon… if you’re into that kind of thing.

I didn’t mind the first one, so I might watch it. Not the best, but if there’s nothing better to do, why not.

  • shdowman

They did this last year. They were offering $100 off any tablet. At the time, the SGT 10 was the hot new item. Each store carried only like 2 with none online. It was either the Xoom or The Asus thing..(I managed to get one though)

    • JoshGroff

      Xoom, the unofficial Nexus. 😉

  • I purchased mine from Staples the first day it was available. I have the Supcase purchased from Amazon. It has the magnet to enable the device to turn on when you open the cover.

    • JoshGroff

I bought a Blurex case, pretty much the same thing though.

  • SolipsisticPsychologist

You own a Nexus 7, how come you got excited you could get fifteen bucks off another one? Doesn’t your free one you got, trump paying money for one? Your idea of things to get excited over is very suspect, and almost as if Staples pays you to plug for them. No, that couldn’t be the case.

    • tomn1ce

Kellex got one for free? Didn’t he pay for the ticket to go to the Google I/O? I wouldn’t say free even though he walked out of there with a couple of gadgets…. :-0

    • JoshGroff

He’s excited for the chance of other people to share in his excitement by getting themselves a cheaper Nexus 7.

Order from Play store and get a $25 Play credit!

    • Is there no Play-store credit if you buy from anyone other than Google?

      • There is, I bought mine from staples and got the $25 as well.

    • nodnarb

order from ANY store and get $25 Play credit!!

    • capecodcarl

You get the $25 Play credit and copy of Transformers Dark of the Moon (digital download from the Play Store) regardless of where you buy it so be smart and save yourself the shipping charges since you’ll likely be charged sales tax through Google Play anyway on top of the shipping.

      • JoshGroff

This ^ I picked mine up at Staples 2-3 weeks ago. Why not save the shipping charge?

  • normmcgarry

    Outta stock.

  • evltwn

wow that was fast. Got mine 2 weeks ago, and I’m loving it. Picked up the gray case too from Google. It’s pretty decent. Has anyone tried any of the cases available from Amazon?

  • Crap, guess I’ll drop $480 on the inferior Toshiba Excite 7.7.
