Dropbox Previews Upcoming Android Build, Nexus 7 UI Enhancements and More

The Dropbox team released a beta build of an upcoming update to their forums for users to try out and give feedback on. Mostly, the team is looking to make sure the app’s UI is streamlined for the Nexus 7 and features work without a hitch on Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean. Full changelog is below.

We’ve just given our Android app a tune-up! Here’s some of the stuff we’ve added:

  • Video thumbnails
  • Better video playback on ICS and Jelly Bean
  • UI improvements for Nexus 7 tablets
  • Open Dropbox files directly from other apps (ACTION_GET_CONTENT for the Android geeks :-P)
  • Other bug fixes

To try out the beta build yourself, download and sideload it down below.

So I got the preview late last night. So far, it is speedier but it doesn’t show my sub-folders and even when refreshing, still not shown. You can search for those folders as long as you remember the names. If you’re like and travel a bit, you may have multiple folders within a folder for docs & pics.

Hopefully this is fixed before being released to the public. It is nice though

Honestly I don’t see anything different with this app on my Nexus 7!

  • I wish you could drag and drop files/folders into different folders.

  • Has anyone got a screenshot of this on a Nexus 7? I don’t have a 7 currently, but would love to see some screenshots of this app!

Hopefully, they’ll implement 2-factor auth soon.

it would be cool if Dropbox allowed an entire folder to be “exported”
right now if you have a music album on your dropbox folder on your PC….lets say you want to copy it down so it now resides on your phone/tablet….you have to click each song and choose “Export”. would be nice to do that at a folder level, or even use a check-box system so you can select various stuff to pull down locally from dropbox.

Agreed. Hell having the ability to multi-select would be nice.

+10. How hard is it to implement this? Or realize that this would be a nice thing to implement?

    • Couldn’t you just shift/ctrl select them all?

        On your phone?

        • I thought he was talking about doing it from the PC app.

    • A temporary fix is just to zip it on your computer, then download and extract on your phone.

nice! good thinking sir. I’ll do it.

would be nice to upload entire folders from your phone/mobile device
