I use “No Wallpaper”. and yeah, depending on the screen type it can save battery, a pure black background can drop the current draw 30mA on the Nexus One versus a typical image wallpaper according to the description of the app. that specific number probably isn’t relevant, as the differences in resolution and screen size and the like may increase it, but improvements in the technology may have decreased it some.

I’ll be working to make the automatic wallpapers always work well with the app icons in your home screen. Right now, Pattrn might automatically use some patterns that a too busy. For now, I recommend exploring the existing patterns and building a collection of your favorites. I’m sure you’ll find tons of smooth and clean patterns

Loving the app so far! Any chance we can see more blurred patterns? I like these patterns but I tend to prefer less sharp ones for backgrounds

Keep in mind that Pattrn gives you access to more than 200.000 patterns. Yes, some are busy (which some users love anyway) but there are tons and tons of clean and beautiful patterns. I personally prefer clean and subtle ones too.

Here’s a tip for those who prefer clean wallpapers: search for keywords that will likely match your taste. For example, search “clean”, “abstract”, “stripes”, “subtle”, etc. Go through the results and mark the ones you like as favorites. This way you’ll gradually grow a list of pattern wallpapers that work well for you. You can then set Pattrn to automatically update your wallpaper (daily or weekly) using your favorite patterns.

All the patterns in Pattrn come from the awesome COLOURlovers.com community. COLOURlovers provide tools to color an existing app (http://www.colourlovers.com/patterns/add) and create new ones (http://www.colourlovers.com/seamless). The tools a very simple to use.

After you create a new pattern on the COLOURlovers website, you can search it in Pattrn and use it as wallpaper
