Download: New Google Play Store Version 3.7.11 With Magazines and TV Shows

If you can’t upgrade your phone to Jelly Bean anytime soon, you can at least download the new Play Store that includes sections for TV and Magazines, two new additions as of yesterday. Other than those new sections, there aren’t any major visual tweaks other than the removal of those awful reflections. After downloading the application, tap on it and install over top of the previous version of the Play store.

anyone having issues with the play store? I cant update or download any apps to my nexus..something about a 921 error??

If your phone is rooted, is TV like movies where they still won’t work?

  • jarch3r

any chance on releasing the new camera apk?

  • JeffDenver

Installed on my HTC Rezound with ICS…work perfectly. Magazine app is fast and fluid. magazines are cheap…99 cents for the full version ($8+ at the news stand)

Is the Play Store APK link from Google? Why wouldn’t they just update the play store without having to download the APK?

    • OhAaron

They do update everyone’s Play Store automatically. This is for people who want it now.

  • achaff86

force closes everytime I go to magazines

  • Amenemhat1

    got it. thank you.

Jelly Bean play store and I still don’t have ICS on my RAZR. What a world.

    • quiklives

      Well, you bought a Razr.

      • John Cavooto

Fair enough, but for Moto’s leading phone you think they would want to keep people by having the latest and greatest OS well before the next installment is available elsewhere. Bad Business Sense. Just sayin’

  • lvmydroid

Works great on my RAZR. Just not sure why anyone would pay $1.99 per episode for TV when most of those are free at other places.

  • DJyoSNOW

If I can’t upgraded to the new os any time soon. Um hello I have a droid charge which gets no love. (little love) ALSO is there going to be a purchased app section. Ever since the play market, I miss the purchased section. (ANYBODY)

The magazine option interested me but why would the prices be the same as a print copy? I’m starting a new job where I’m going to stuck on a bus for about 30 minutes each day getting into the city so I think a tablet like this would be a great alternative to an old fashioned book and the option of getting a car or gaming magazine to read is tempting. But if I’m buying electronically, I’m cutting out the entire printing and distribution portion of the process, you’d think that would save a buck or two or per issue. A $0.99 an issue price (I don’t mind a few ad’s) would definitely be a buy. $4.99 – $8.99 an issue is going to be a pass unless I’m desperate for content.

    • DroidJ

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I have the same issue with buying comics.

    • digitalicecream

Have you seen Nextissue at all? It’s not a fit for everyone but a subscription to all of their content for X a month seems pretty enticing.

      • HybridAndy

Actually, I haven’t. I just looked it up and it looks like an interesting option. Not a lot of magazines in their portfolio that are really my cup of tea but I’ll keep an eye on it and see if they expand. Thanks.

My scientific american magazine, not offered anywhere for digital downloads, is more expensive online than the actual physical magazine 12 month issue to be delivered to my house.

  • udispyn

    thanks!!!

  • r0lct

Looks like the same version I’m running in JB on my GNex.

  • dmoto

It worked for my Galaxy Nexus, Thanks!

  • droidify

    Nice. Thanks

  • Smeckle

Wouldn’t work for me. Says a conflicting application with the same signature is already installed. I most definitely don’t have this version installed yet.

    • Brandon White

This just means you need to uninstall the play store version that you currently have before you install this version.

      • Smeckle

        Thanks

  • Good_Ole_Pinocchio

Grabbed it yesterday… now I’m trying to get Jelly…

    • Loofou

I wonder if this supports the Smart Updating feature announced yesterday..

    • Mack

Are you referring to sending updates to devices from the web based Play Store? If so, it already works with previous versions of the Play Store app.

      • Mike

I believe he’s taking about the change that allows the device to download only the changes for updates instead of the entire apk each time. Making smaller downloads for updates.

        • http://twitter.com/SD1337 Steve DeBellis

          Yes, this
