Tuesday Poll: First Non-Nexus Device to Get Jelly Bean Will Be?

Now that Jelly Bean is official, we have to ask – which will be the first non-Nexus device to receive it? The DROID RAZR is receiving Ice Cream Sandwich this week, the Rezound should get it within the next few weeks, a handful of others have been on it for a bit, and too many are still without it. Will it be a tablet? Maybe the Transformer Prime? What about the Galaxy S3 which is launching across the world with ICS? Will we see a quick turn around from Motorola on the RAZR? Place your bets in the comments.

Sadly Verizon doesn’t care about updating the hardware . They just get excited cause a new OS update means another way to install MORE blot ware . I DO NOT like vznavigator or vast music or Verizon video or let’s golf 2 or let’s not forget the bankrupt company of blockbuster . Come on really , I been trying to post on Verizon’s website message boards and have had 13 messages deleted . If I even mention that we were promised ICS in early 2012 or that htc had the link on their website or anything the messages get deleted . Fu Verizon

ASUS is second to none when it comes to Android updates.

I think the Verizon Galaxy Nexus will be one of the *last* to get Jelly Bean as it really isn’t a Nexus device at all. Thanks Big Red

moto xoom (wifi) then maybe the one x

  • Jarred Sutherland

I would imagine you are spot on, none of the manufacturers have a proven track record of anything like two major OS updates to their devices. Why would they start now?

    • Marikel

Because Google announced that every Android device will get 18 months of update support from now on

      that will never happen

  • Andy R. Oid

G1 will probably be first IMO.

  • MarcusSchoen

Ok, the company to get Jelly Bean to the public (Besides the Nexus Program), will be Samsung. I’m not talking about releasing a new phone, I’m talking about updating. Samsung was first with ICS on the GS2, so why not be first with JB?

  • http://twitter.com/ra_mcewan robert mcewan

    obviously the droid bionic

  • kaufkin

it will be a tie between the Raxor Max and the Galaxy NotaNexus from Verizon. Unless you count pete A, in which case it will be whatever phone he decides to work on first. :-)

  • Tim Swann

seeing as the VZ version of the G-Nex isn’t a true Nexus device because VZ is in the way of allowing updates come once ready, I say the VZ G-Nex only because it will be the easiest to update from a software perspective. It might not be the first simply because big red loves to interfere though.

  • LiterofCola

I’ll go out on a limb and say that the S3 will, just because of the crazy marketing campaign that’s beginning for this device. I’m sure Samsung will want to make sure this phone has the latest and greatest.

  • Travis Stanley

Verizon Galaxy Nexus (With a custom ROM)

  • Malcolm James II

It will be a whole year before there are ten phones with Jelly Bean

  • citrusrocks

    Moto citrus, best phone ever.

  • http://twitter.com/5646edwards John Edwards

    Not the Droid 3.

  • markuz

Probably RAZR MAXXX or HTC One. GN LTE will get JB on 5/2013. Thanks to Big Evil Red.

  • Luke Grissom

Asus will be the first device overall definitely. As far as phones go, I think the GS3 will be one of the first non nexus to see 4.1. I know Samsung doesn’t have the best history for updates, but the fact that they will have sold so many units of this one model will make it easier and more valuable for them to update quickly. They don’t have to deal with multiple for factors and system changes. Pretty much the only difference will be between the Exynos quad core versions and the S4 US/LTE international versions. We’ll see.

First NON-Nexus device to receive JB is upcoming Note2… That will come with 4.1 and all other existing devices will get JB on 2013 or 2014…

  • Emad Zia

    Moto Devour

  • Travis Stanley

    Verizon Galaxy Nexus…Lol

  • SeanBello

the GS2 and 3 just aren’t very developer friendly. they have hardware buttons on an OS that’s built to work better without them.

It will most likely go like this: Nexus devices, Asus Tabs, Moto RAZRs and Samsung SII/SIII…then HTC will release it for the Rezound/One Series about 30-45 days after Sammy and Moto.
