Facebook has pushed an update to Google Play for their official Messenger app. Included in the update are a ton of new features and also some added improvements. With these new features you can swipe to delete individual messages, share larger photos, and switch between conversations, thanks to in-app notifications. Dang Facebook, you’re finally doing something right.

New Features:

  • Quickly switch between multiple conversations with in-app notifications
  • Include friends of friends in conversations
  • Swipe to delete individual messages from conversations
  • See who’s available when you start a new conversation
  • Share bigger photos, tap for full screen and pinch to zoom

More improvements:

  • Faster app loading, navigating and sending
  • More-reliable push notifications
  • Bug fixes

Go grab it.

What the heck is FB doing??? I deleted their app because it asked to be updated everyday? WTF!!! Delete. Now a messenger? I have SKype, MSN, Gtalk, QQ, Whats App, and good knows what else…. I dont need this crap.

  • I have been having problems with the app lately… couldn’t send messages, no push notifications (used to be great, but something happened in one of theupdates) hopefully this fixes it. If not, it’s just facebook lol

  • Why is messenger pretty damn polished and works well, but the actual facebook app is garbage?? This is ridiculous.

    • Baby steps – the Facebook app is next.

      • Facebook Camera app is next! Oh wait, they got smart and deleted that crap. Back to the drawing board!

Actually, the reason is most likely that the FB Messenger app is now being developed by the former Beluga team. Remember FB bought Beluga Messenger a while back and have slowly been incorporating all of its features into the Messenger app. That’s my opinion of the matter.
