Just applied this to my Droid Bionic, as I’m on the fringe of 4g at home and it kills my battery.
Luckily I’m grandfathered into unlimited data for now, so it’s just a speed hit I’m taking.
But…you know…not like back in the 80′s…

Thanks for this. I couldn’t figure out why my Bionic was using more battery than usual after the upgrade was performed. I finally saw that it had also switched back to 4G from the 3G setting I had it on. Verizon sucks.

We turned off the GSM in the internal menu and haven’t hit a Canadian tower yet, fingers crossed.

So, the Droid M is one of 5 phones which Verizon says has no system select to block roaming signals and to stay on home system. Is there a nifty way around this also? I like the M, but live 2 miles away from the Canadian border, and serve a little church 2 miles over the border. I know I can get US signal there, but it grabs the Canadian signal as soon as I cross over the border (due to internal GPS?). Is there a way to program this phone so that it keeps the American signal even if it is weaker?

thanks so much for the fix. I don’t have 4G in my area and it seems pointless while traveling anyway. Will be glad to have my battery back. Maybe I wasn’t paying attention but that update smacked me in the head harder than a Buster Bar!

does this only work with Droid RAZR? I have a droid 4 and the code doesn’t work. Once I press the last asterisk, the entire code disappears from the dialer. Very strange…

It seems that i do not even get a 4G signal anymore. my phone just stays in 3G and 1X. When i used this option and switched over to LTE only, I had no signal at all, the big red cross sign over my bars. I am in downtown Chicago so this is completly inexcusable. Verizon is starting to really tick me off.

Had the same issue
Go into “Wireless and Networks” > “Mobile Networks” > “Network Mode”, try toggling it between “Global” and “LTE/CDMA”, that usually kick starts the 4G back on for me.
