One of the first things I look for in a cell phone case is slight protrusions beyond the phone body itself--a rim above the level of the face of the phone and/or raised above the camera lens.

While I know that this adds to phone thickness, I would much prefer for the first point of impact to be on the case and not the phone body.
I usually end up with the innocase line from seidio. Going from the metal-bodied Motorola Droid to the Samsung Galaxy S3, I am going to be looking for the toughest case I can find. Thin light phones are beautiful, but survivability is a much higher priority for me.
(I would probably wait for the Droid HD, if keeping unlimited data were not an issue. I have several issues to weigh.1. If I am going to give up my dearly loved physical keyboard, I want a large screen with a less-cramped soft keyboard--plus to SGS3. I will do most of my web browsing on this device, and do not want to have to pay for separate tablet data plan--so in the absence of a Galaxy Note, this is the next best thing.2. I have loved the radios in all of the Motorola devices I have owned, including ham radio devices that I used long before cell phones took advantage of the technology pioneered by amateur radio repeater operators--plus to Droid HD.3. I much prefer to have removable batteries, usually employing multiple extended batteries, as found in the early Moto droid series--plus to SGS3.4. I would love to see the screen and camera on the Droid HD, but the potential loss of unlimited data plans closed the deal for me--ordered Samsung Galaxy S3.)

Now I'm all for the news about phones that aren't on verizon, I think its interesting regardless of whether or not I can have it. However, cases for phones that I'll never have without paying an ETF is another thing. It's not my blog so obviously Kellex is welcome to post whatever he likes and it wont stop me from reading it regularly, I just would rather see more articles on more relevant things, because case reviews are only slightly interesting and helpful for phones that verizon has where the phones themselves are nice to hear about regardless IMHO.
