No, wait…what I described is NOT call screening. Call screening just lets you listen to the voice mail while they are leaving it. I want the service to prompt the caller for a voice “greeting” when there is no caller ID info. That would then be played before sending the caller to voice mail.

Kellex, did you port your number to google voice? How does using it impact your minutes on VZW? I’m getting tempted to start using google voice more, but I can’t find any reliable information on how minutes are allocated when using google voice. (I have the 900 min, 5 friends and family plan). Thanks.

What would be really nice is if they would route the anonymous calls to an IVR that prompts for a name/company. Then let the call through but with a message that says “You have an incoming anonymous call from [play recording]. Press 1 to answer this call, press 9 to send it immediately to voice mail or hangup to treat this as a normal missed call.”

If it is sent to voice mail the same type of prompt would play when you retrieve the voice mail:
You have a missed anonymous call from [play recording]

the only thing it’s missing is MMS support. although, i know it’s the carriers fault for this.

I share droid life’s fanatical devotion to a telephone system that has never caught on with the general public. I refuse to think ahead to when google fails to properly implement or support this feature and I fail to see how this will lead to friends, colleagues, and current or potential employers being insulted by my witty and clever voicemail insults.
