Galaxy Nexus POGO Dock is in Stock, Still Costs $90

The POGO landscape dock for the Galaxy Nexus is back in stock at Samsung’s official store, for those interested in dropping a cool $90 for a nightstand mate. We reviewed this dock back in February when it first surfaced, so if you are in the market for a stand, we suggest you check it out. I will warn you that $90 is about $60 above what this dock is probably worth. It charges your phone using the 3-pin connector and that’s about it.

Cheers garbagedick and Mike!

  • The vertical dock serves just fine for me. I’d love to have this thing but 90 is extremely unreasonable, especially considering it’s just NOW available. Maybe at launch, maybe, but now there’s no way these things will sell to their expectations.

You can build your own for about $10 and a little (more) work!

    See this thread on XDA:

  • wtf is the reason it is so expensive? ive bought stand docks for way less for other phones

  • sperho

$90? I’ll take 5! Not. How about $25, Samsung? Good grief.

  • Apparently, this won’t work properly on 4.0.2. Verizon needs to update their Nexus to 4.0.4 for us CDMA users to actually get this working.

Ugh, so what do you guys think.. i guess ill take the plunge? have wanted this dock since the day i got my nexus.. and the gsm one on expansys is a no go i guess so… should i take the plunge?

  • Shucks…I have a 3800mah and a sedio case. Make a phone that doesn’t need extras and i’ll consider something like this.

  • Act of God

Zero chance I buy this at any price over $19.99, plus seems like it wouldn’t really fit my phone with the case on it so that’s another neg

  • Sammy thought they could exploit Nexus users passion. They were wrong. I’ll wait until its on woot for $20.

  • The accessories support for this phone is embarrassing. Really Google? Don’t work too hard putting out anything to support this phone.

  • Keii Graham

The entire Galaxy Nexus lifetime has been one giant experiment to see how much they can piss off their customers.
Actually I’m thinking it’s just Samsung price gouging for no good reason.
Between this and the damn $125 stylus, fuck you Samsung.
That Stylus costs more than my mouse.

  • I perfer this solution, getting the $105 package is actually more useful that this piece of plastic dock samsung is trying to hawk at me.

  • LordStickMax

i actually really want this but 90 bucks is high way robbery

  • hambeast

I think this was my first and last Samsung phone. I honestly feel insulted at
the price for that dock. I was even thinking when I first got this phone
that this would be the first one I actually bought accessories for. As
it turns out, Samsung apparently had other plans.

  • joe buck

Why waste any money on this dog

  • Guest

I’d give you about threeeee ffittty for it.

  • lagnis

This can be had for $59 at expansys

    • 4n1m4L

      The Verizon version?

      • GNEX(MOTOX)

        nope. thats the gsm version..

  • 4n1m4L

I was calling them once a week to ask about this and nobody had a clue. Now all of the sudden its available again.
    go figure.

  • Dave

Wow, that’s a bit pricey. Anyways, does it fit fine with the extended battery?

    • 4n1m4L

yes. see the video. Kellex hasn’t used the standard battery on his nexus since day 1.

  • it takes a real A HOLE to release a useless POS for 90 bucks.

  • tomn1ce

That is not $60 over priced that’s about $70-$80 over priced….Who are the idiots who are going to buy this for $90 when you can get a 2nd charger for about $2-$5….the cheaper charger won’t hold your G-Nexus on landscape mode but it will charge your battery…If it would have speakers, better then the ones on the G-Nexus or any other feature other then charging the phone I would maybe, maybe pay $30 for it…

  • Just to echo what everyone else is saying – $90?!

I could have sworn they would have dropped by now – they can’t be selling many of these things?

    • 4n1m4L

They were sold out forever. Just now became available again

  • Butters619

    Why are you yelling?

  • cizzlen

    LOL $90

  • Still not buying

  • feztheforeigner

Is this spam? Usually yelling in all caps is spam…

  • ckeegan

Thanks to garbagedick for the news, and the lack of a cardock is garbagedick.

    • ckeegan

i got 5 thumbs down because people are too stupid to look at who got the “cheers” in the article.

  • can someone PLEASE explain to me why this charging method is worth $90. please, try to convince me. “Why would we improve our battery technology if we can just keep making new ways for people to charge their phones [that offer no benefit]? I mean, the real-cost of this guy is about $2.34 so even if we sell one out of every 100 we still come out ahead. Ha, man people are stupid”. – Every phone OEM, every day, for the past three years.

    • L9VYWmcJXO

At least Motorola does $90 bundles

    • 4n1m4L

Actually, the way samsung made it transfer audio and trigger dock mode, through one spare pin, requires a mirco controller and spdif adapter. Also, something not mentioned it does optical out. doesn’t do so well with headphones as it is a line level out, but it does make sound.

The reason I think its worth 90, is because it doesn’t tear up the usb port. My wife is still rocking a droid2, and the only real issue its having, besides her breaking the screen twice, is the usb port has started to be really loose. The desk dock is the only way to hold the phone so that it will charge.

This makes it very worth it to me, as this is the phone i was waiting for.

  • trevorsalienarms

Will it even work correctly with the VZW GNex seeing as how we’re not officially up to 4.0.4 yet?

    • fartbubbler

I have two, they work great. I use them all day every day- home and work desks. (used Christmas money, not my own 🙂

  • L9VYWmcJXO

Never getting another Samsung this is ridiculous

    • Butters619

If Moto does one thing right its accessories. They actually release too many accessories but at least because there is so many the price comes down quick.

    • Scott

Agreed. Close to six months after the phone at that!

  • This is one reason I’m hesitant to move to Sammy for my next device…

    • Mike

That and the Nexus has more bugs then Angelina Jolie

  • keeler

I was hoping this had dropped, but alas. I’ll jump on board when nobody is willing to pay out that kind of price and they go on clearance.

  • Liderc

I’d buy this thing in 2 seconds if it was $30.

$90 is just laughable for a dock.

  • I wonder if this would support an MHL adapter as an alternative. Has anyone tried that? That would be very nice if it did. Hey Kellex there’s an idea for you.

how could it.. the pins can transfer audio but i doubt they could transfer a video signal.. think about it.. your not plugged in via cable, just through the pins. not going to work.

      • 4n1m4L

Mhl requires the pair of data pins in the usb port, yes.

  • You guys hear those crickets?

  • Pedro

Only because it would NOT have me plug into the micro-usb connector every day.
Take a couple hundreds insertions out, and everyone’s happy.

  • I’ll wait until they can’t sell any at this price and drop it to $20.

    • JagoX

$20? Shoot does the USB port on the back even support MHL? If not then that thing needs to be like $10-12 then.

      • 4n1m4L

The usb port in the back is just to supply the dock with 5volts. MHL needs the data pins, which this dock doesn’t touch. There is a portrait version that goes for about $50 that has a built in mhl adapter, and triggers desk mode.

        • JagoX

$50? Fail. I’ll stick with my Milo desktop stand & a basic MHL-HDMI adapter

        • That’s true, forgot about that. I’d rather have the portrait dock anyway.

        • Michael

It doesn’t even have a set of speakers on it, which by now all docks should have, if it had quality speakers similar to bose I could justify $90

          • 4n1m4L

It makes your phone into a stereo quality audio source. Isolation. Even optical if you want it…

I don’t know why i have to defend a dock, i just want one bad. Hopefully they don’t sell out till after i get paid

        • @4n1m4L:disqus Does the one you are talking about work with the Verizon GNex with the extended battery? Can you tell me where you found it. The only one I find does not support Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus.

          • 4n1m4L

If you click the pink buy button just above the YouTube video it takes you to Samsungs site

          • @4n1m4L:disqus I didn’t mean the dock here, I meant the portrait one you described, “There is a portrait version that goes for about $50 that has a built in mhl adapter, and triggers desk mode. “

          • 4n1m4L

my apoligies! http://amzn.com/B006NYP83Q I have a verizon g-nex on 4.0.4 imm76k and this dock works perfectly. I don’t have an extended battery but should have one by the end of the week. I can confirm it for you then if you like.

          • 4n1m4L

Or I could just look at the review for it on here since kellex has been using the extended battery since day 1
It defiantly fits with the official extended battery. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugX5ai-V-M0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
