Actually it does work. If you click “restore root” via Voodoo OTA both before and after the update, you are able to maintain root…even though this isn’t an OTA update.

No shit, but it isn’t arriving via OTA therefore an over the air root keeper app isn’t going to work. If you have to manually flash it root keeper can not work.

Bionic doesn’t have a SIM lock for its GSM transceiver, but Bionic was never intended to be global.

If the DROID4 indeed won’t require an unlock code, I guess I don’t have to wait for XT898. I wonder if someone with an “upgraded” DROID4 could check with an AT&T or T-Mobile (or any US MVNO) SIM.

the options are there under network so im wondering myself, it says global cdma only lte/cdma and gsm/umts
I wonder if it still needs to be unlocked by verizon like Droid3

I don’t think it’ll help much. The hardware acceleration problem is pretty well kernel related and since we have locked bootloaders, we cant swap the kernels (unless we get kexec ported to the Bionic and a kernel is made to work with it), thus making it very difficult to have any hardware acceleration without a leak. It’s lame, I know. That is the single worst thing about this phone.

I didn’t want to go days/weeks/months without root access. Otherwise I would have happily stayed on this build.
