I wouldn’t mind if they use the same Gdrive storage I have
and integrate it with the Cloud
Google Drive service. I filled up my Gdrive already and I need more
room, so I hope they get this ball rolling soon. I filled up my old DVR all the time too when
I only had 55 hours of HD storage. Now I
have the Hopper whole-home DVR from my employer and 150 HD hours is plenty for
our family. Of course I will have to
limit my series that I save, but we divide it all equally so we don’t
fight.

I have a Box account, but don't use it because unlike Dropbox it isn't unified across all platforms. I don't want to open a browser and login. I like Dropbox where I just open it like another folder. Easy. I can install it across all platforms including Linux.

Dropbox is still going to be the best choice.

The difference is that DropBox actually has customer service. That’s worth the extra money. If you can get hold of someone to talk to at Google about a problem you are having then please feel free to share that number. I have never been able to get an issue with Google resolved, even as a paying customer.

If it allows large data transfer for hd video storage also it'll be worth it. I can't stand that box won't allow large data transfer for hd videos, so I use Minus for videos that another DL-er told me about. If it's cheap enough I'd like to get google's storage, cause I'm sure they'll come up with more ideas to make it better than other cloud storage's and add better functionality.

It's great unless you're one of those poor bastards that finds Google has terminated their gmail account for whatever reason. What would happen if tomorrow you went to sign into your Google account and found it was locked and/or deleted for some ToS violation? There's nobody to call and complain to since it is a free service. All your GMail is gone. All your Google+ stuff is gone. All your contacts are gone. All your app store purchase are gone. All your voicemail and Google voice stuff is gone. All your documents are gone. Personally I find the thought of so much of my valuable data exiting solely in "the cloud" absolutely terrifying.

*yawn*

This was a project that was ready for launch like 5 or 6 years ago and the Chrome team canned it because they felt the idea of a "file" didn't apply anymore (umm, yeah, umm, no not really). Now they decide to bring it back. For what reason? Extra revenue?

Unless they integrate it into Android I think this is 5 years too late.
