Old DROID X or Incredible 2 to Trade in? Amazon Will Give You Double Verizon’s Offer

Verizon has a trade-in program of their own, but the prices they are willing to offer on some phones are anything but high. For those that did not know, Amazon has a similar program. While some of their prices are laughable even when compared to Big Red’s, a couple of phones in particular are going for almost double what anyone else is willing to give you. The Incredible 2 and DROID X, a pair of devices that are far past their prime, can be traded in for $156 and $59 respectively. For comparison sake, Verizon will give you just $78 and $33 for these two.

If you are in need of some extra cash (Amazon gift card in this case) as we approach the end of tax season, this might be worth a look.

  • Trueblue711

I can’t believe how many people are willing to be ripped off by trade in programs like this.

  • Derickmc

    • Tyler Cameron

      You’re an idiot..

Got $125 for my DX after eBay fees and shipping earlier this month.  It’s definitely where my wife’s DX is going in the next week.

  • Derek Gelinas

Incredible 2 past it’s prime?  YOU’RE PAST YOUR PRIME!

Seriously though, that’s a very hurtful thing to say.

  • OnMy2ndGP

I agree about my DX too. Shoot, CM9, MIUI, CM7 & all the different variants of those and modified stock ROMs. We still have a strong community. But Kellex is right though, our DX is past it’s prime. I’ll still keep mine for a while.

Are there really people out there who have never heard of Craigslist?

  • hoodie nation

nice, I got my Inc 2 for $90 and I have an upgrade available. Hmmm, that Nexus is looking pretty darn good right now.

  • Kris Brandt

My OGD is worth $7 to Verizon and doesn’t exist on Amazon!  Heck yeah!  Glad to know that if I need money in a pinch, I can sell my OGD phone for less than 2 gallons of gas!

  • Lacokanostra

Cam we use the yearly upgrade Verizon gives for $24 on Amazon?

    • Earleepa

what yearly upgrade? I thought all the upgrades were gone.

      • Lacokanostra

To be fair im not sure for the rest of y’all but Verizon has been offering me an upgrade for the past year for a 24$ fee

That’s one of the problems with android devices vis a vis the ios devices. See the same sites for trade in values for the iphone and you get more than double or triple the value.
Its not something which will make me switch over but its just something which irks a little. (Esp when trying to trade in your phone to afford an early upgrade.)

    • RedPandaAlex

It’s not surprising though, with how much more rapidly newer Android phones get released. I mean, I bought a high-end phone on launch day (Droid 2), and one month away from being able to upgrade, phones that are more than twice as powerful as it are free on contract. Not to mention how much harder it is to have an up-to-date OS version on your device.

      • http://twitter.com/inramana Ramana

        That’s why I got a nexus :)

  • zepfloyd

My old Droid X is worth more than 60 bucks to ME.

    • RadicalPie

      Mine to.

      • hkklife

Yup. You could easily get $75 to $85 for one on CL or E-Bay. But the Inc2 past its prime? Not with an official ICS update on its way, baby!

    • Jeff Creemer

I’ve recently seen used Droid X’s sell for $150.

      • zepfloyd

not to mention a nice custom ROM and a 32GB SD card and you’ve got an awesome extra PMP.

      • burntcookie90

Yep, sold mine a couple of months ago for 145
