Blurwich Lock Screen Available for Those With GO Locker

The lock screen from the leaked Ice Cream Sandwich build for the Motorola RAZR that snuck out yesterday has already been turned into a GO Locker theme. It will cost you a buck, but at least you can get a taste of Moto’s attempt at skinning Android 4.0 before it goes officially public. The developer also wants you to know that this is basically an “alpha” since it was based off of one photo.

Cheers zyghost!

Typical Motorola simply can’t leave well enough alone.

Even I say NO to this. Ill stick with my stock ICS lock screen on my Bionic.

    How? Widgetlocker.

  • I’ll eat my hat if the Razr’s lock screen looks like that when it gets ICS…but before anyone gets too happy, my hat is made entirely of nilla wafers.

Needs a bit of work to clean up, but not bad. I’d pay a buck if it was customizable. The left screeny isn’t bad, but the r is ugly. Don’t like clock font either.

I don’t care how useful that unlock screen actually is; it’s too ugly for me to ever want to use.

  • DJyoSNOW

Made me think of that horrormovie….lol

Now if only we could skin Jha …

Oh quit crying, all you do is complain about motorola and there there so called blur. You just like to gripe that is a moto product (that you bought from t-mobile not verizon skinned moto products) But remember if it wasnt for moto we would never have droid or the popularty of android pushed to the mainstream. Sure the OG Droid had it all. Then we got locked bootloaders “per carriers request” then we saw less and less obtrusive ui from moto every handset. now you look at a moto handset and you can really tell the differece from the first blur phone that was on tmo filled with all the crap. To just inhancements with news feeds to pulldown favorites widgets. To remove single threads in the notification shade. Then graphics on contacts launcher, text messages icon, phone icon if thats blur then i am a fan of motos product. Its not like touchwiz from samsung with is more crap loaded on it then moto. So you should be really saying good bye gingerbread and hello ics.

  • Nate Davidson

    I, actually… don’t mind it…

    Didn’t really like stock unlocker…

    This is weird for me.

  • J3ss3 Priest

    That’s so freaking ugly

  • Gunther

Motorola, in true Moto-fashion, took a stylish, modern lockscreen and sh*at on it.

  • Larry Mao

Why? I mean, that’s one Fugly lockscreen.

  • babadush

Pay a dollar for an outdated look? Hahaha. Nah.

  • ddevito

I wonder if ANYONE will ever read and oblige by Android’s new UI guidelines.

  • Ewww

    EWWW that is horrible

  • being able to pull down the notification bar completely eliminates the need for this, except the volume toggle

  • can you smell the lawsuit….shouldnt have charged for it but now if it gets back it will probably be copyright infringement.

  • Mark Lewis

  • Wow, Moto, not your finest work.

    • Jason Purp

      Not their work at all.

  • My mind just started repeating eww eww eww eww.

  • ddevito

Matias Duarte just hung his head in embarrassment.

    • No kidding, so much for elegant, unobtrusive, minimalistic UI designs.  Moto has always been great at over the top, confusing, ugly design.

      • ddevito

I simply thought custom UIs were simply slow, buggy or obtrusive. And using stock Android on my OG I liked it (a lot) and never saw myself using a custom skin, ever.

But after using ICS on the GNex, and reading lots of articles and posts from Matias Duarte, I have a newly found appreciation for Android in terms of UI DESIGN – which I never thought I would have.

This is a great article I encourage ALL android users to read:

Even if someone doesn’t like ICS (which I still find strange) this article at least explains why ICS looks the way it does.

        • There is a name for people who don’t like ICS.  They’re called crazy people or iPhone users.  Same thing I guess.

Nice, Blur is natural fit with anything named “locker.”

  • shdowman

    Oh god no…

  • Matthew Rosidivito

Concept is great, but I really think this one looks terrible. Very BlackBerry. All function, no form.

  • Mack

Not a fan but wow, android developers can be quick at times.

  • Pdiddy187

I’d rather give a buck to a homeless dude.

  • Tyrian

    • More like really really terrible.

      • Anonymous

        ..and absolutely hideous.

  • I’m finally free of OEM UIs, there’s no way I’m adding any part of one back.

    • Agreed.  This Motoblur lockscreen looks truly awful!

      • It sucks worse than a loose hooker after a busy weekend.

  • Jason Purp

The biggest downside I see with having the Nexus is that lockscreen apps don’t display/work properly. I don’t think it’s possible for an app to hide all of the softkeys, so I don’t know how I’m going to use a lockscreen replacement app ever again. I’m very picky and I need all of the buttons to be out of sight. It really sucks, but I guess there’s nothing I can do about it since I love everything else about the Nexus. I’m not trying to be a Nexus d*ckrider, I’m just saying.

    • mons

I’m using AOKP.  There’s an option for a quad launcher – unlock and camera in the default places, messaging in top right, dialer in top left, and an octo launcher which gives you those, plus a few spots where you can select an app.  And it hides the softkeys.

I’m hoping CM9 will bring back lockscreen gestures.

      • Jason Purp

I have that option as well in the Codename Android ROM. But I want some nice custom themes. I want to be able to use WidgetLocker again.

        • mons

I agree – I miss widgetlocker.  The softkey bug made it unusable for me.  I had meant to email the dev, but I didn’t.  Reinstalling to see if the bug is still there, if it is, I’m going to email him..

          • Jason Purp

Well the app hasn’t been updated since November 18th. I’m sure the dev is still trying to update the app for ICS so hopefully that’ll fix many things.

The lockscreen appears when a call is being received
The power menu isn’t always usable. It will ignore touches sometimes.
The soft keys appear on the lock screen (I don’t know if there’s even a way to hide them, but I really hope so).interactable with
The app isn’t made for HD resolutions, so some of the slider effects are laggy.
