Any problems with the boot looping? (google "rezound boot loop")

Also, do you notice that sometimes WiFi has to be restarted to get networking back up and running? (and does it piss you off that there seems to be no way to prevent the phone from turning WiFi back on after turning it off, even when telling it not to prompt every time you open an app?)

Have you played with it as a DLNA client or server? It's really handy.

I have the Rezound, and I was surprised that so many details (good and bad!) are left out about it.

For one, it acts as both a DLNA client and server. That means that I can stream directly to or from an XBMC server (or a Sony Media Player or a DLNA-compatible TV or...). That's really neat. No extra cables or special dongles required (although you are free to get one if you like -- the HDMI streaming works well).

One bad thing about it is that sometimes on 4G in certain parts of the country (Tempe/Phoenix, AZ, for me, but others have the problem in other places), the 4G network causes the HTC device to set the time zone back and forth apparently randomly. You'll get 4G and then suddenly your time hops back and hour. A little later it might hop forward to the correct time, but it also might stay back an hour. This problem doesn't show up on 3G. Apparently this problem has shown up on HTC 4G devices ever since the EVO. Verizon says that HTC knows about this problem and is working on a fix (I called them tonight and asked).

The worst problem with the Rezound are the boot loops. If setup for CDMA, at random times, the phone may kick its modem into a "WCDMA preferred" mode that disagrees with Verizon. Consequently, the phone reboots and boot loops until you take the back cover off. With the back cover off, you get enough time to set the phone back into 4G automatic mode which fixes the problem. I've asked HTC support about this problem (which you can google for to see that it is widespread), and they say they are aware of the problem but do not know yet what is causing it nor how widespread it is. They say they are working on a fix.

Moreover, even before people finally realized its bootloader could be unlocked, temp root was easy to obtain and let you freeze bloat (e.g., via Titanium Backup).

Anyway, Amazon Wireless is sending me a replacement Friday that hopefully isn't so sensitive to the boot looping problem. After that, I look forward to fixes from HTC... because I really love the phone when it works. The camera is great (and fast), and the phone feels great in my hand. I'm a bigger fan of the curved dimple on the back of the phone than the G-Nex's curved screen.

Technically, I got it for $240 with my Wife's 20% off corporate discount. They then credited my account $100 which makes it $140, plus tax. I think I came out okay.

For those of you who were able to get $100 credit on a prior purchase of the Rezound...did you purchase it within the last 14 days and if not who specifically did you talk to. I have called customer service 3 times and they are all strictly keeping to the 14 day price matching window.

The only things the G-Nex has over the Rezound are NFC chip and slightly bigger screen with no physical soft buttons. Now that the Rezound has an unlockable bootloader, those are the only things the G-Nex has going for it. The Rezound has a clearer screen (though you have to be looking very close to tell), better cameras, better build quality (IMO), better antenna or radios, more and removable/expandable storage. And it comes with nice ear buds.

I think you will be happy with the Rezound. I have had it for over a month and simply loving it. It does take great pictures, there is a panorama mode in the scenes setting that works well. It also does great video, has 16gb internal plus the included 16gb external sd card, music sounds great. All the specs make it a great phone.

Any way this could work in India? Cause the unlocked still seems to be out of reach, price-wise? So, now the unlocked bootloader on our side, can I buy this, break the contract and use it here as a GSM device?
Thanx!
