Google Goes Panoramic in Latest Galaxy Nexus Ad

Panoramic photos are always fun to attempt, especially when you are standing by yourself on the top of a skyscraper with a beautiful cityscape behind you, soothing soundtrack playing and the sun setting in the distance, casting brilliant shadows on your glowing freckles. Wait, you haven’t found yourself in that situation either? Google wants you to, with your Galaxy Nexus.

Actually I just got off a cruise and used the panoramic photo function quite a bit.

I know this is the internet and bashing things is how you prove you’re cool, but this is actually a function I enjoy about my galaxy nexus.

i am impressed that a modern day phone commercial shows off something the phone can do!!! (besides apple) wonder who thought of that marketing gimmick? letting something sell itself for what it is!

  I definitely agree. Google doesn’t do a good job of highlighting all the all the integration that is available for Android. New Nexus ads (the ones from Google, not Verizon) are a good start.

I love love love my Nexus but anything function or app that has to rely on the camera is mediocre at best. Such a great phone to have such a lame camera. Pano is an okay feature but the quality is not great.

trying to figure out how a company like samsung, can spend all this time and money developing the Nexus and no one found that the speaker and the camera were so crappy, I guess they are death and blind

The easiest and quickest pano app I’ve ever used. Gnex needs a higher quality camera though. This phone should have had a better camera than what was shipped. Especially with the great features that are packed inside. I’ve used the heck out of the pano feature and it’s biggest draw for me is the ease of use. One click, pan around, watch the meter, let it do its magic.

What resolution are the panoramic shots? I took one and it really only shows up small in Picasa and kinda defeats the purpose.

It amazes me how this is being considered a big deal anymore. There have been how many apps that already did this in the past and the UI that every one seems to hate, Blur, has been able to do this as well. The only thing that should be stated is the fact that it is now natively supported, that is all. This site sometimes sounds like the ifan sites about how revolutionary something is that already existed before.

  So they need to be full of ninja robots? I personally hope they emulate some of Apple’s commercial focus on usability and features of phones. Only idiots don’t do a derivative something that works if they can’t come up with something completely new. Look at Moto/Verizon commercials, they repeatedly put out garbage again and again.

“Droid Life”, to me, refers not to the Droid name so much as the spirit of what the original Droid meant to Android as a whole in being the device that brought Android into the mainstream, but also in being a highly customizable stock device. One of the absolute main focuses of the site has been on customization and when a phone comes along, like the Nexus, that embodies that spirit, I’d almost feel disappointed if Droid Life didn’t focus on it a lot. (Also it doesn’t hurt that I have one, lol)

    I am coming to the light. The Nexus build up was really starting to tear a line down the Droid-Life universe and a lot of us from the begining were getting a little tired of it. It has since calmed and we are coming back down to the surface. Whew!…. It was getting a little ugly around here for a while though.

  People are just angered that they picked up a phone that does not have the same support a DEV phone gets and thats all fine and everything. Rezound just got its bootloader unlocked and I’m sure it will gain support as well. (Hopefully as much as the Original Incredible got, which was a ton!) Motorola you can only do so much

  there was a guess-timation out earlier this week based on the recent report from Google about % of Android devices on which particular OS. ICS had something like .6% (4.0.2 + 4.0.3) which would guess around 1.5M ICS devices since they passed 200M Android devices late last year. you could say that Nexus is a very high % of ICS devices.
