Add December 11 to the Galaxy Nexus Potential Launch Date List

It has been a couple of days since a new date was tossed into the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon fiasco, so let’s go ahead and add to it. Does December 11 work for anyone? It’s later than the December 8 date that we have reported on a number of times now, but at least it is not two or three weeks later.

According to a Best Buy inventory system, they are expecting the device to be in stock on the 11th. Could it happen? Sure, why not. Anything is possible at this point. Just remember that when the Thunderbolt was on the verge of release, we saw these BBY systems change on the daily.

Not a lot of official word to go on these days, so take it for what it is – a potential date.

    The Gnex will be released on Dec 11, 12, 13, 14,15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23,24, not on the 25th thats Christmas, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31. That covers it…Boy I hope I’m right on one of those days.

    Does a Sunday really make any sense as a launch day to anyone else?  Me thinks not, Best Buy isn’t known for there stellar information accuracy with complicated things like…..names.  Besides God may even strike down those that covet the golden idol that is Google.  Or some sh*%.

    Looking at the info that has been provided I would have to say that the 15th is most likely. If bbuy is getting a truck Sunday the 11th with the shipment for the week the the 15th would fit a release with Dec 8th as a potential preorder date…with all the speculation surrounding that day.

    Makes sense marketing wise as it is 10 days before Xmas, the next date would be the 22nd and that seems too close to Xmas, MOST people have their shopping done by then.

    My poor OG Droid…it really wants to retire, but at this rate, it can’t collect its benefits until it dies.  Hang in there, ‘lil buddy!  I know you’re constantly losing 3G connection and you overheat when using Navigation or Words with Friends, but you’ll make it!  Just a couple more weeks…you can do it!

    My Droid2 is acting all kinds of weird lately and it randomly shut off last night and it took 12 hours of sitting on the Moto charger to finally decide to turn itself back on. Then turned itself back off about 5 min of being off the charger since it wouldn’t go past 90%. I switched to my other battery and same symptoms but seems to be staying on now though no other of my chargers will charge my phone. My battery actually when down when i had it on the car charger earlier when running errands.

      get an iphone 4s from the apple store.. which has a 30 day return policy with  no penalty.. play with it and then return it once the galaxy nexus arrives (hopefully within the 30 days).

      that way you can have a nice phone for a while and who knows.. perhaps it’ll change your mind too 🙂

    I used to work at Best Buy also and Sunday is when the trucks come in.  There are rarely Thursday deliveries.  This day is more about what Best Buy can implement in it’s logistics rather than what the actual release date is.

  • Maybe pick a Tuesday or a Thursday after this date… but a Sunday? I seriously doubt it folks… My guess is either the 15th or the 22nd

      As someone who worked for Best Buy for a minute I can guarantee that nobody that works there or runs the joint at the corporate office has a clue about anything.  So this date means nothing.  I mean, they are still calling it the prime on the leaked page from their website

    Your a sucker if you buy the GN. 2-3 weeks later, 2012 will hit and the real monster phones – ALL with ICS and many with battery and performance loving quad core chips – will start to get announced and all you early adaptors will notice how you got duped.

      I can’t speak on everyone’s behalf (that’s buying the phone) but I can say that, for myself, I’m buying it because it’s a Nexus phone. Hardware specs are nice, but really don’t care all that much.

        I love my Bionic. I have no issue with it at all. Got 16hrs battery yesterday. It will definitely perform well for me for a long time.

        ….and about the quad core chips, totally unnecessary. Software can’t take advantage of it now and if it did you wouldn’t even notice a speed difference. Just like with computers they are totally unnecessary.

      you don’t need quadcore anyway, its just a phone. nexus is future proof, and will continue to get software updates until the end of your 2 year contract, when other phones like the razr and rezound are outdated.

          trust me, you don’t need it. does your current computer have quadcore? if your unsure you probably have dualcore like most. quadcore, 8-core and higher are mainly used for gaming, and are on most high-end gaming rigs. so tell me, why would a phone need that? maybe a tablet, but not a phone.

            I was more referring to back when dual-cores were about to come on the scene, all of the critics were saying: “Why would I want a dual core in a phone?  It’s totally unnecessary.”  Now it’s almost expected to be in modern smartphones.  Now, history is repeating itself.

    In my opinion the Nexus will not be released till after January 15th. Verizon will not allow you to buy a phone (RAZR, Rezound) use it for a couple of weeks then return it for the Nexus. I tweeted this similar comment to droid_life and hashtaged Nexus as well, and got a reply from Nexus Support telling me thanks for my patience. Who know what that means, but I really believe it’s true!

    I was in a DC Verizon store yesterday filing a bullshit warranty claim on my Charge and I said to the smartest guy behind the counter – we don’t have to go thru any of this if you can give me a release date for the Galaxy Nexus. he said ‘I know right? that’s the phone I’m getting too’, I said have you heard anything about the 8th? ‘no’ I said have you received any training for it? ‘no’ I said when do think we might have it? ‘maybe in the spring’ I said, file the claim. MFers

    I use to work at Best-Buy a while back, and I occasionally “worked the truck” which always came on Sunday nights, and the in stock date was the date the truck came.  The merchandise was then actually put out for Monday.  Just sayin’.

    • Exactly. I unload trucks for a large retailer as well. We get tons of boxes covered in street date stickers usually within a week of release.

    I say if Dec 8th passes and no Gnex. Then we all cancel our contracts and jump ship…i for one would go to TMO and just order the Gnex unlocked and at the same time sell the phone i get like the SGS2. In white to help off set the cost….that’s how we show them we wont put up with their BS…at least u can still get 5. Gigs at very good Hspa + speeds …

      Exactly…I have to pay outright for the phone and HSPA+ is great in my area on T-Mobile (no contract) and A LOT cheaper then Verizon, plus, I would be lying if I said the appeal of the battery life on HSPA+ vs. LTE was not appealing to me.  There’s one on Ebay in NY (right next to me) for $745.00 (free shipping, no tax) and I am SO TEMPTED to just buy it right now…put a 90 day hold on my contract so I don’t lose unlimited data and grab a quad core phone in February…but his Bionic MUST GO!!

          If you didn’t hang on every release date rumor, then all of this wouldn’t be a big deal. Just relax. The phone will be out when it’s out. I understand Droid Life reports a new release date every 30 seconds, but until an actual date comes out, this is all meaningless and just an artificial way for them to inflate page views.

            I sort of agree with you – although if a screenshot of say, January or February surfaced – I’d want to see that – a day or two here and there and yes – agreed – don’t care.

            It’s one thing to rpeort “good” rumors, but hey – news is news. In the meantime I’m going to keep enjoying my OG.

          Well….I’m getting this phone no matter what. I wanted the Bionic, but now realized that I’m glad I didn’t get that phone, ’cause I know I can get a phone that will truly be great, and will truly be worth the wait. Even though there’s really no definite release date yet(only rumored ones), it just builds up the anticipation level even more…just waiting for that release date…wow, when that day arrives, it’ll be a glorious one.

          But honestly, for me, I couldn’t give a monkeys uncle from hell when the Nexus gets released…well, within reason, of course. If it’s the 8th, great, if the 11th, great, if the 15th, great, if the 22th, great, if the 24nd, great…just as long as I hopefully have the Nexus in my possession before Christmas or before the end of the year, I’ll be happy.

          Until then…my Droid X is a great appetizer until the real deal get released.

          They are only doing this so they can say people don’t want a dev/stock/un-bloated phone b/c they lost interest. Then show the number of how many Nexus’ were sold b/c of the delays.

      This date makes sense to me, as now the Nexus needs to move to the side to make room for the Droid$- which will be launched before the Nexus.

    December 11 is a Sunday….I’m not even sure my local store is open Sunday and if they are its from like 12-6. Bestbuy is open Sundays 10-6 I think…not a good date IMO

    At this point, it just is what it is.  3 weeks ago it was the best thing going, not for some strange reason, people are jumping ship like this phone is, some how, shit… i don’t get it.  Its on it way… If you got the phone on November 20th, would you think its garbage now a couple weeks later? NO, so why can’t everyone calm the hell down and wait another week or so?  Look at the reviews, watch the vids of the phone and see that it is a great device.  One that will be out shortly.  I can’t stand the wait, but I’m not going to protest by waiting 4 more moths for another phone with ICS and a Moto-Blur skin…

    Or it could be an instance of an indirect retailer getting the phone a few days after the actual release. That has happened on more than one occasion in the past I believe. Not to mention Dec. 11th is a Sunday. I don’t Verizon has ever launched on Sundays before…

    Honestly, don’t care when it’s released, just as long as it’s released! Although I’d rather get the Nexus sooner rather than later.
