HTC To Be “More Competitive” To Do Away With Competition In 2012
HTC has recently seen a 7% dip in share prices thanks to an earnings adjustment to their 4th quarter and to the competitive mobile phone landscape. To counter this and to make sure investors are not too worried, HTC’s CFO Winston Yung has spoken to Reuters about their plans for 2012. HTC wants to get back to their old ways where their hardware dominated the market as it did for much of the year, but they will need to go up against Samsung who also plans on having a repeat of this great year. With a more focused approach on flagship devices and global phones, HTC is looking to step their game up.
“We will focus on the product next year, better and more competitive. Other than new LTE phones for the U.S. market, we also have phones for the global market. We will launch some worldwide flagship products. We’re confident in them.”
With Samsung conquering the hardware market, HTC will need to put a lot of thought and marketing into their next big thing. There is no doubt that this could mean that HTC is looking more at quad-core technology like we have seen with the HTC Edge. Besides 3D devices which seem to have been a bust, quad-core technology might be the only way to go, or to revamp their dual-core line of phones. So will 2012 be the year of HTC?

They are advising against making travel plans at this time.

New Verizon MAP List is Out: DROID Bionic Drops to $199 On-contract
It’s probably time for the DROID Bionic to start dropping in price now that the DROID RAZR is out and the DROID 4 is only weeks away from our hands. You can now pick up the phone for $199 on 2-year contract, $100 less than it debuted at back in September.
On a related note, the XOOM dropped to $199 for the holiday weekend, but we are pretty sure that price is going to stick until they can sell out of them. With the XOOM 2 also on the way – December 8 a possibility – they need to make room.
And there is the Galaxy Nexus listed again at $299.

Working Ice Cream Sandwich Ports Making Their Way To Many Devices
Since the release of the Ice Cream Sandwich source code, the wait for ports of the OS to different devices has begun. It has been just 2 weeks and we can happily report that many devices (more than expected) already have semi-working builds and that there are others on the way. In this list of devices with working ports you will find the Motorola XOOM, HTC Thunderbolt, DROID 3, DROID Incredible, and even an alpha build for the DROID Bionic.
ICS for these devices is not 100% yet, but from what we can tell, these builds will start becoming more user friendly in a short time. If you want to keep track on the work for these devices, follow the links to their homes down below.
DROID 4 Round-up: Official Pictures, Specs, Accessories and a Current Release Date Target
If like most people, you took the entire weekend away from the Android world to enjoy the holiday festivities, you may have missed all of the DROID 4 talk around these parts. We now know pretty much all there is to know about a device that up until just a few weeks ago, was a complete mystery.
- On Wednesday, we caught word that the device has been scheduled for release on December 8.
- Shortly after that announcement, training began for employees.
- We then got confirmation on specs and the finalized look of the device.
- Official press pictures arrived, along with a comparison to the DROID RAZR.
- Finally, a look at the accessory lineup which includes LapDocks.
As many have screamed over the last few days, “this is what the DROID 3″ should have been. The DROID 4 by all means is the evolution in the DROID series that we like to see, just usually not so close to its most recent predecessor. It has 4G LTE, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, webtop capabilities, and a sleek new RAZR-esque design.
If a physical keyboard is a must have, the D4 is looking like your best option to date.
