by: | posted 11.29.11 | News

If the wait was not already torture enough, knowing that some folks in the world are privileged to receive the Transformer Prime early is just disheartening.  The folks over at Ritchies Room have Asus’ quad-core device in their possession and have pushed out a complete full-on review for the masses.  From what we have read, there is nothing but great things to be said about this second generation tablet: performance, looks, and the added usability of the fully functional keyboard complete with Android shortcut keys.

Google Maps Receives Update to Version 6.0.0: Indoor Maps in More Places, Quick Features Menu Added

by: | posted 11.29.11 | Apps, News

Google Maps received an update to version 6.0.0 this morning, bringing with it indoor maps for select airports, malls, and more. You can also easily switch between common features now using a quick menu up at the top of the app and find Places easier when searching. The star though, is clearly the indoor maps. I cruised over to the Portland airport and found a 3-level map of the place. Traveling and shopping just became a whole lot more fun.

Oh, and yours will look slightly different since that is the Ice Cream Sandwich version of Maps. :P

Cluzee Released as a Personal Assistant App for Android, Do We Have to Compare it to Siri?

by: | posted 11.29.11 | Apps, News

Cluzee is Android’s next attempt at having a personal assistant service like Apple’s Siri, yet as with all other apps in this line, it falls short in some way or another. It can work through most of the recommended or sample task list that is provided upon first starting up the app, but once you start shouting out your own versions of tasks for Cluzee to complete, it struggles. I was able to pull up the weather here in Portland on Friday, find a nearby coffee shop, and even find out how many days until X-mas. It works, at times.

So, props to Cluzee for making a big PR splash this morning. You are now in the spotlight – let’s hope you can improve on what appears to be a pretty solid base, and create an app that people can use as a daily driver. For now though, please stop making comparisons of this app to Siri.

Oh and by the way, this may or may not work on your phone. According to the market comments and our own tests, it’s pretty hit or miss when it comes to compatibility.

Verizon’s 4G LTE Galaxy Nexus Gets Pictured, Receives Android 4.0.2 Update

by: | posted 11.28.11 | News

According to one of our readers with the 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Nexus, an update to Android 4.0.2 was made available to test devices within the last day. It’s not clear what was fixed, but we certainly hope that it addressed some of Verizon’s concerns that seem to have held up the release of the phone. Could it simply be a fix for the volume rocker of the GSM version of the phone? Maybe, but the GSM phone I have has received no such update. Tough to tell. We are wondering now if 4.0.2 will be the version of Android to come loaded on launch day?

Our source also has not received word on a release date, however, our inbox continues to receive tips from a variety of folks that are under the impression that tomorrow still could be the day that pre-orders open up. Verizon has remained silent on this front, so we’ll just have to sit tight and see if some magic happens in the morning. Would be a nice surprise, that’s for sure.

Oh, and we have attached a couple of HD screenshots for you below from an LTE device. Battery life, as you will see, is not completely awful yet not amazing at the same time.
