That new render makes this phone look so so sexy! I always liked the curve on the nexus s so this is not a deal breaker for me. If this phone is too big so is the droid x/x2, droid bionic, thunderbolt, galaxy s2 etc.   I think at this point, it’s a pretty silly thing for you guys to hate on it for that. Anyway, I really think this phone looks slick.

He’s only comparing it to the benchmark of all smartphones – the iPhone. The iPhone probably benefits from extensive market research where Apple determined the optimum phone size. In order for Android to be competitive, they have to load it with features that Apple forgot inside (NFC, etc), and possibly outside in hopes of grabbing market share from segments who prefer larger screens.

And as with any type of market research, you do have shortcomings. “Optimum phone size” may simply end up meaning “yeah it’s optimum, but I don’t care about phone size to a certain point.”

Proportionally this got taller than it got fatter than the iphone. Take your thumb (unless it’s a big thumb) and pop it on top of an iphone. That’s how big this phone is. It’s not that bad, really.
