I can’t use any apps on my phone because storage space is low. Why is this update so huge and why does the market list it as only 6MB, when it’s really 17MB?

ok so i feel like an idiot cuz i been slacking on my smartphone game lately cuz of my job. but i just downloaded adobe air yesterday. what exactly does it do? i’ve heard it ranges from it making videos play in their natural form to app development. not sure at all what it does. please help? dont be too critical on my ignorance.
