New DROIDX2 Soak Test is About to Begin, Just Bug Fixes or Something Else?

Another update for the DROIDX2 is on the way?  I’ll be honest and say that I have no idea what it could be other than bug fixes.  Is there a chance that the DX2 finally gets that 3D Blur love that the DROID3 and Bionic have been able to experience?  Seems like it should knowing that it has equal specs to the D3 and should easily be able to run that version of Moto’s custom UI.  I guess we’ll know in just a few days when the soak starts.

Cheers J, A, R and D!

Hopefully this fixes the music skipping issue. THAT is annoying and just plain unacceptable.

I wonder if it will fix the charger bug, requiring you to reboot every time you pull it off the charger so it will “sleep” and conserve the battery.

  • FanDroid619

Eagerly awaiting the new OTA. No random reboot issues here, however I do get the stuttering audio playback issue. And the Media engine tends to crash every now and then especially when watching YouTube vids. Here’s hoping to a lot of bug fixes  :-)

Getting random reboots here also. Phone seems sluggish for a dual core. I like to complain.

I only really tend to see soak tests when theirs massive changes…not sayin this can’t just be a bug fix but usually its a pretty big change when they do soak tests.

However….I also havn’t seen much DX2 love here on DL….such as leaks and whatnot… Like if it WAS the 3D Blur you would think we would have seen it already…

The new Moto 3D UI would be nice  :-)

Even though, i am rocking my bionic, i would like to see 2.3.4 on my DroidX2 as well

    • Anonymous

      Or 2.3.6

      • Anonymous

That’s the semi latest android, the nexus s has 3.7

    • FanDroid619

      Me too  :-)

      • Anonymous

        We might

    • http://www.facebook.com/mikelierman Michael Lierman

      How about 2.3.6 or 2.3.7 instead. I don’t want a messily 2.3.4, that’s old. Way old.

      • Anonymous

I agree, but those new updates just the nexus have it

I’m a little paranoid this *might* fix root exploits/init.d/2-init. So I think I’ll wait this time.

    • Mr.joe

      It’s good to wait!

can anyone help me i installed the ota update manually for my droid 3 and now when i connect it to a computer, and i have tried 3 different ones, it doesnt connect. it only charges. i have no way of changing the usb options because nothing pops up in my notification bar. it’s acting like im just plugging it into the wall

    • Me

Sounds like an issue with the USB port on your computer, not an issue with the phone.

  • Shill1300

i hope they fix the music skip issue.

    • Billyrouth2000

Ive not had any problem with music, mine just reboots 3 or 44 times a day

      • Billyrouth2000

        4 not 44

  • Mr.joe

    I hope it’s ICS.

    • hkklife

ICS would be sweet but it’s highly unlikely, given the preference for TI OMAP CPUs for ICS (since Tegra2 got all the Honeycomb love earlier this year).  Also, I still feel the X2 is sort of the red-headed stepchild in the current VZW lineup and they will probably put it to pasture sooner than usual.

Anyway, they DESPERATELY need to address the X2’s random rebooting, random 3G disconnects, and the horribly inconsistent camera image quality (flash is usually out of sync with the shutter etc)

In the “nice to have” category would be the D3/Bionic-style 3D Blur 2.3.4 and the new camera app.  1080p video recording would be nice but it probably won’t happen.  Same goes for improved memory management.

Also, the newer Gallery app (the one that shows pics from social networking sites) is horrible, but as long as we have QuickPic I don’t care about the stock app.

Anyone else have the random shutoff bug? Stupid thing, while on the charger just powers off, and won’t turn on until you pull the battery, and put it back in… once that’s done the batt level can be as high as 100% so It wasn’t dead! Hope there is a fix for that!

        • Jason.DROID

I don’t have that issue, but there is an issue with the battery stats being incorrectly displayed after a reboot.  For example, my battery was at 20% prior to a reboot, and after booting, it was magically at 60%. Unplugged it and it still registered 60%.  Used it for a little while until it went back to 5%.  There was a steep drop-off from about 50% to 10%.  Really dumb.

I don’t receive any random reboots, but yes, the music skipping needs fixing.  Actually, when I first received my X2, it suffered from about 6-7 reboots just using the phone normally (watching YouTube videos, Facebook, games, etc.).  Seems the silicon needed conditioning as it wouldn’t run at 1.0GHz for long.  That corrected itself within a week.  If yours is rebooting often, I’d suggest a warranty claim through Motorola (or if you want a refurbished phone, through Verizon).
